The Company:
Our client works in the nuclear industry on diverse engineering projects

The Role:
Working within the Business Winning team, the Sales Engineer will be responsible for developing small to medium sized estimates and tenders for customers in the nuclear decommissioning, defence and new build markets with primary responsibility for winning business for the North West Division.

Key Activities / Decision Areas:

Capturing requirements in the client tender documents
Material take-offs from engineering drawings and input into estimate sheets
Undertake Make versus Buy assessments
Review and analyse complex bills of materials, assess labour quantities and associated costs
Manage the enquiry process with the supply chain and appraise quotations for both technical and commercial viability
Negotiate the optimum Tender price from suppliers and subcontractors
Offer value engineering options and innovation that differentiates our tender from the Competition
Prepare tender risk analysis and ensure tender submission is appropriately clarified
Development of the project time schedule
Prepare tender settlement pack ready for sign off with the Delegated Authority(s)
Participate in handover of successful tenders to the delivery team
Undertake continuous improvement activities

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Essential role related knowledge, technical skills, qualifications and experience:

A demonstrable track record in the preparation of detailed estimates and producing winning tenders
Strong communication and people skills
Ability to work under tight time constraints with excellent time management and planning skills
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within a related engineering industry (aerospace, petrochemical, oil & gas, nuclear, automotive)
HNC / ONC Engineering qualification as a minimum
Strong mathematical and IT skills (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project)
