The Role:
PT Engineering Resource Estimating Analyst
Conduct PT Engineering Resource estimation actions / process for multiple Powertrain development programs (incl support for major complex Global programs led by Senior Estimating analyst)
Segmentation responsibility is normally split by Carline applications
- Primary focus: programs using the resource estimating models.
- Secondary focus: support RTO (required to operate) type estimates on smaller programs and exploratory studies.
Scope is for Powertrain Engineering resource elements normally for PTAI(Powertrain-as-installed) programs
Manage programs through PT GARRP process with operational teams to ensure co-ordinated and timely estimates
Maintain tracking on programs progress through GARRP stages, and highlight delivery roadblocks / action plans on problem programs.
Ensure estimates agreed and published by PT Resource Estimating (PMS files) are calendarised and regionalised and adopted by Vehicle and translated into budget changes (via GPRR and Gateway papers)
Regional PTBO interface: first point of contact for another regional PTBO.
Support peer review mechanism with Departmental Chief Engineers to obtain concurrence of estimating change level picks
Support implementation of new estimating / program resource management tools such as RS&W and ITM and implement changes to departmental processes to align
Develop departmental expert role for a particular field/cost category (in line with business priorities)
Presentations and meeting support up to LL3/4 level on a regular basis
Additionally support and management information will be required for local business groups, global counterparts in FNA/FSAO and FAPA and there will be occasional ad-hoc assignments where the support of the business team is requested.

Essential Experience & Qualifications:
Strong analytical skills: PT Engineering programs are inevitably complex projects with multiple stakeholders in separate functional and regional organisations
Ability to work and deliver to tight deadlines
Ability to communicate and report at detailed or summated level of data with / to all levels of users as appropriate
Good communication / people management skills (especially across different functions and regions)
Organised and methodical approach coupled with the ability to work on a range of projects of varying regularity, length and complexity.
Key IT skills: Excel, global data sharing tools
Engineering Business / Program Office experience and detailed knowledge of Gateway processes
Degree in Automotive Engineering, Science, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent but only with appropriate relevant experience) or completed one third of formal study towards such a degree course and commitment to complete studies. (Any candidate who may not meet these criteria but possesses comparable functional experience / qualifications may be considered on an exceptional basis)

Desirable Experience & Qualifications:
6 Sigma qualified (Green or Black Belt)
Other IT skills (e.g. MS Project) could be very useful
VA/VE or similar commercial engineering experience

Additional Information :
This is a key role for the aligned estimating of new PT programs, and tracking of existing programs through the GPDS process. Local structure is within a small team, managed through an LL6/LL5/LL3 organisation. Reporting / working relationships will often be direct with LL5+ stakeholders as well as LL6 / GSR counterparts. The role will suit candidates looking to expand their experience in Program Management / Business / Planning, or those wishing to pursue a career in those areas.
