The Role:
The Pump man is specifically responsible for ensure that the operation and maintenance of deck machinery and cargo control equipments are in the safely condition and efficiently operation of the liquid handling system. This includes but is not limited to;
Liquid cargo transfer pumps, liquid cargo stripping pumps, ballast pumps, liquid cargo coalesces and separators, strainers, filters, associated service piping systems, valves, support fittings and perform routine maintenance PM/CM as required on deck machinery and cargo control equipments, condition based monitoring and maintenance actions directly related to the transfer of liquid cargo handling; such as leaks correction, packing valves, greasing fittings, glands, bearings and reach rods. The incumbent shall be fully capable of overhauling, repairing and rebuilding valves, pumps, reach rods, packing glands and stuffing tubes etc

Cargo Operation
- Offloading and internal transfer operation
- Cargo gauging measurements
- Prepare cargo pump and line up cargo offloading line
- Ensure safety protection equipment such as PV breaker, deck seal or PV valves are functioning
- Maintaining portable gauging equipment in good condition and ensure the equipment certificate of calibration is valid.
- Assist. Cargo operation, ballast operation and other operations as required by Loading supervisor.
- COW and tank washing
- Personal in-charge of COW operation on deck.
- Prepare and operate crude oil washing machine as required functions and hot water washing.
- Line up COW line on deck.
- Inert and purging operation
- Isolate and de-isolate cargo designed tanks and check tank atmosphere for ensuring that are in safe limited.
- Purging and Gas Freeing operation.

Maintenance
- Maintain effective and lead of maintenance for deck machinery and cargo control equipments regarding to PM/CM recommendation or unscheduled under the supervision of Loading supervisor or Maintenance supervisor.
- Cargo pumps, stripping pumps and ballast pump.
- Maintenance and repair of cargo, ballast and stripping pumps.
- Cargo hydraulic system and box control hydraulic valves.
- Motor starter panel
- Condition of hydraulic boxes and pilot valves
- Hydraulic pumps and accumulator
- Hydraulic line leaks
- Emergency hydraulic hand pump
- Actuators of hydraulic valves in the cargo tanks, pump room and on deck
- Replacement of defective seat rings of valves in the cargo tanks, pump room and on deck.
- Hydraulic oil sump tank low alarm and low pressure alarm test.
- COW machines and system.
- Maintenance of COW machines
- Maintenance of portable tank cleaning machines
- Repair and overhaul of line & valves
- Cargo heating system.
- Valve repairs
- Cleaning steam traps
- Starting and stopping of cargo heating
- Testing of heating coils
- IG system
- Fixed tank gauging system and portable measurements.
- Repair and maintenance of fixed system
- Care and maintenance of UTI tapes and samplers
- All deck machinery
- Mooring winches and mucking winches
- Maintenance and repair of cargo associated equipments such a P/V valves, deck seal, P/V breaker, welden pump, vapour locks, tank dome and manhole packing etc.
- Pump Room housekeeping and cleanliness.
- Maintenance of all pressure gauges and pneumatic lines
- Forward turret SBM
- Turret structure : isolate and change out two grease supply filter element.
- Safety device and functional
- Try out and function check of high level alarm
- Try out and function check bilge alarm
- Greasing / lubrication

Miscellaneous
- Follow Tenets of operation and safe work practice procedure in all aspects of work.
- Carry out HA/JSA as work permit.
- Carry out accurate and effective work toolbox talks and handovers.
- Work area within your own responsibility is kept clean and free of hazards.
- Record maintenance activities and report defects immediately and effectively.
- Maintain an inventory of cargo system related spares and stores.
- Facilitate maintenance operations by applying/removing isolation as required.
- Depressurize, drain and vent, de-gas, the plant or system as required according to procedures or operating guides.
- Perform LOTO procedures.
- Advise maintenance personnel from third party on the hazards of deck machinery equipments.
- Perform general maintenance, greasing, cleaning, filter changing and housekeeping.
- Contribute to control of critical situation and response to emergency.
- Monitor and control pollution measurement.
- Carry out emergency response roles.
