The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
The role covers the preparation of Parts within selected categories and co-ordination of a cross functional team within these categories. The role does involve overseas travel.

• Responsible for the production readiness for assigned Parts and associated facilities for current and future vehicle models within Purchasing, including model year project.
• Use continuous improvement techniques in conjunction with Bentley and the supplier to ensure on time delivery of parts to meet project requirements.
• Assist in tool resource or refurbishment activities on current production models, and to support approved AEKO implementation on assigned.
• Provide technical knowledge on manufacturing process and methodologies to Purchase.


1. Technical

• Provide technical and project management skills to Purchasing department.
• Continue to develop skills and knowledge in their area of work using a range of activities including on the job training.
• Analyse problems, consider relevant information and solve problems in a logical way.
• To reduce, or maintain, lead times of parts through regular contact with suppliers.
• Tooling re-location as a result of insolvency or global sourcing.
• To identify cost effective tooling routes.
• Maintain Tooling identification and inventory.

2. Continuous Improvement and Quality Tools.

• Apply Lean Principles to drive improvement in supplier quality, cost and timing.
• Use Continuous improvement tools 5’s, Quick Change Over, Visual Factory, etc to identify and eliminate waste from the supply chain.
• Conduct detailed feasibility study using component review team methodology to ensure manufacturing process will achieve Bentley Engineering Specification.
• DFM (Design for Manufacture) and DMA (Design for Assembly) methodologies in support of the above.
• Design and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis methodologies in support of the above

3. Production Readiness and Tooling management process

• Ensure Kaufteilemanagement way of working is adhered to.
• Assist suppliers with manufacturing feasibility, process planning, capacity planning, facilities preparation and sub-supplier preparation.
• Work with suppliers to maintain and achieve progress through to Note 1 parts in line with project schedules
• Determine and confirm suppliers’ actual installed production capacity and facility utilisation meets current and future Bentley demand.
• Use of Overall Equipment Effectiveness metric to identify equipment improvement opportunities.

4. Reporting

• Produce KPI’s / Reports into Project Management structure in support of events such as Pilot Hall, KPSK etc.
• Produce KPI’s / Reports into Business as required.
• Maintain company’s quality rating (VDA/TUV/TS16949).
• Represent Purchase at Board events, if required.

5. Teach Others

• Develop Kaufteilemanagement, Production Readiness and Tooling methodology.
• Share learning and skills with other Bentley associates and suppliers as required.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Educated to a degree level or equivalent technical training / apprenticeship with Project Management/Production Preparation experience.
Demonstrable experience is required, preferably within an automotive/manufacturing environment.
Demonstrate necessary knowledge of automotive component manufacturing processes.
Demonstrate good interpersonal and leadership skills, with ability to communicate across all levels of the business.
