The Company:
Our client specialises in the manufacture and production of containers for a variety of applications including significant agreements with the Nuclear industry.

The Role:
• Working with supply base to ensure they are working to the agreed terms highlighting non-conformance to the Purchasing Manager;
• Managing current supply base to develop relationships and carrying out site visits with key suppliers;
• Reducing expenditure by negotiating with suppliers;
• Developing and implementing cost saving & process improvement initiatives;
• Management of all associated purchasing administration to underpin cost control and financial procedures;
• Raising of purchase/subcontract orders;
• Closely liaise with logistics to ensure the provision of all raw materials and production consumables are in place to meet business requirements.
• Ensure efficient and cost effective supply of products, materials, and services ensuring quality, budget and delivery lead times are achieved.
• Timely reporting and expediting of delivery status;
• Resolve discrepancies on orders, invoices and specifications as they arise.
• Ensure purchase system records are accurate and maintained;
• Responsible for collating the monthly key performance indicators for the purchasing department;
• Coordinate purchasing records liaising with finance & suppliers as necessary;
• Working to purchasing policies & governance procedures to ensure budgetary control;
• Support the Company’s positive safety culture and ensuring effective workplace organisation;
• Participate in at least one continuous improvement event per annum;
• Ensure proactive management of own performance, conduct, behaviour and capabilities which aligns and supports the Graham’s Code of Conduct and Core Values;
• Attending training to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills;
• Undertaking any other reasonable tasks or requests as required

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Experience in a similar purchasing role working within an engineering/ manufacturing background preferably within a nuclear/aerospace environment
• Knowledge or experience of buying of a range of engineering products and raw materials.
• Must be CIPS qualified
• Excellent planning and organisational skills with experience of MRP planning and scheduling system.
• Able to demonstrate problem solving ability;
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate, influence and engage others;
• Excellent numeracy & literacy skills
• Strong PC skills including spreadsheets, word processing, and MRP data input
• Team working
• Work independently subject to overall direction or guidance
• Take responsibility for completing tasks and procedures
• Flexible in approach with a can do attitude
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and practices would be useful
• A commitment to own continued professional development;
• Commitment to promoting behaviours as set
