The Company:
Our client is a major oil and gas company.

The Role:
The Automation/DP Engineer is responsible for overseeing the SCV construction and commissioning scope as well as liaising with the shipyard and vessel operator personnel.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

General
• Responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective execution of project scopes and communication of project goals and expectations.
• Be part of a high performance team to facilitate successful delivery of the SCV build and commissioning
• Maintain awareness and promote conformance to project expectations and requirements of Safety and Quality Build within the construction team and the contractors.
• Be in compliance with all appropriate elements of the project, Operating Management System (OMS), including Risk Management and Management of Change


SCV Electrical/Automation/DP Lead Roles and Responsibilities

• Ensuring that Shipyard QHSE standards are maintained, monitored and make suggestions for improvement in accordance with company expectations
• Responsible for all automation and DP aspects of construction, installation and commissioning stages of the SCV build.
• Inspecting the works in accordance with the quality rules and regulations, specifications, engineering drawings and applicable construction standards.
• Provide detailed inspection reports with the results and findings of every inspection.
• Provide an inspection schedule to the yard and also randomly perform inspections and tests to confirm that the work is being carried out to QHSE standards and the relevant rules and regulations.
• Work in close cooperation with the Shipyard Instrumentation engineers
• Monitor the performance of subcontractors and initiate actions if delivery deviates from specifications and schedule
• Review work packages, commissioning procedures, SAT procedures and mechanical completion documents
• Monitoring, logging and analysis of the incoming engineering data from the Shipyard
• Providing on‐site assistance for the interface between the detailed engineering data and the yards’ fabrication engineering
• Monitoring, logging, reporting and following up on engineering queries and/or changes from the Shipyard
• Monitoring the engineering installation and commissioning interface between the Yard and vendors
• Verifying variations and/or variation orders on technical content
• Providing construction related project information for the project progress reports and weekly project meeting.
• Verifying procurement related variation orders on technical content
• Monitoring and assisting in the engineering information interface between vendors and suppliers and the Yard’s engineering department
• Work closely with Class surveyors to ensure full compliance with Class rules, Flag state and relevant guidelines
• Work closely with the chosen marine/installation vessel operators and integrate the marine crew into the mechanical completion/commissioning processes
• Ensure that all appropriate technical documentation is verified and maintained in readiness for vessel project operations
• Over-see all electrical/electronic, DP MC’s and commissioning tests, review and comment on any findings and make recommendations were appropriate
• Over-see the sea trials plan (electrical/electronic) and make recommendations for any additional testing above the requirements of the ship yard, Flag state or class as may be required for additional marine assurance verification.
• Provide input to the DP FMEA for the SCV and witness FMEA testing during the sea-trials.
• Make recommendations on any findings from FAT’s/SiT’s/FMEA’s or sea-trials.
• Provide detailed information and assistance to the site construction manager regarding inspection results
• Carry out inspection of equipment arriving on site noting condition and compliance with specifications.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Electrical degree, HND or equivalent
• A minimum of 10 years experience in Electrical/Automation/DP design and construction
• Proven capability of leading successful teams
• Experience with site construction activities related to health, safety, and environmental issues
