QC Piping Inspector

The Role:
The joint venture company has awarded an Engineer, Procure, Construct (EPC) contract with a value far in excess of $1 billion, and construction man hours in excess of 14,000,000. Engineering and procurement have been under way since early 2015, and construction activity has started.

The construction labour force is expected to peak at nearly 3,000 people and the site based construction supervision team is expected to comprise approximately 150 positions. Within these 150 positions, there are opportunities for driving the successful execution of the project and enjoying an opportunity to develop skills on a unique and prestigious project. This role is as part of the Site Management team.


Responsibilities
• Reporting directly to the Site QAQC Discipline Supervisor and indirectly to the Quality Manager.
• Responsibilities will include:
o Monitoring and implementation of QMS Procedures, PQP, ITP, method statements and reporting deviations from the management system and contractual requirements of the project.
o Verifying that all necessary inspections and tests, as required of the project and by statutory regulations, are carried out and appropriate records are updated and maintained.
o Coordinating quality activities with subcontractors and any other individual parties who may be working on the same site.
o Coordination with clients and third party inspection, in accordance with approved ITP, for agreed witness inspections & tests.
o Ensuring close-out of all open issues / punch-points within the time frame agreed with the client.
o Reviewing and performing material receiving inspection as per company and client requirements utilizing the applicable standards and specifications.
o Performing assigned in-process and final products inspection and tests as identified in the Approved Inspection and Test Plans.
o Reviewing Sub contractor Procedures related to Piping Work Fabrication, Construction and Testing including Tie in or Hot tap as required.
o Monitoring Installation of Piping systems and pipe line for U/G, A/G Piping in either C/S, S/S, Alluminum, RTR, PVC, CPVC etc and verifying the related QC documentation.
o Preparing inspection & test reports of completed inspections & tests.
o Ensuring all equipment’s, tools and materials meet with the project quality requirements and that personnel have been adequately trained to use them safely.
o Identification of non-calibrated equipment’s and informing Subcontractor QC for expediting arrangements with Calibration agencies for timely calibration of the equipment’s.
o Liaison with client representative concerning quality matters on site.
o To be conversant with the company QHSE procedures & policies and ensure that all the people on the site observe and implement them.
o Identifying near miss and nonconformities in materials, products, processes, procedures and reporting the near miss / nonconformities in the near miss / nonconformity report.
o Verification of implementation of corrective & preventive actions against the nonconformities and reporting results to Discipline Supervisors through QA/QC Supervisors and Quality Manager.
o Preparation and review of final quality dossiers / test packs.
o Compile and Submit weekly report and requested information / statistics to Department QC Supervisor.
o Liaison with QAQC Supervisor/ QAQC Manager for all aspects of quality.



Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills

• Degree or Diploma, in an appropriate Engineering. discipline
• Have knowledge in welding inspection and fabrication of piping and vessels to international codes (ASME, AWS) would be beneficial.
• Have experience and thorough knowledge of codes such as ASME B31.3, 31.4 and 31.8, ASME section VIII, API, ASTM and general piping system installation related codes and standards.
• Have experience of piping and support installation, Pressure Testing and Pipework cleaning and associated activities for insulation and coating.
• Ability to read and interpret Piping construction drawings / Isometrics and P & ID.
• Lead the Subcontractor QC Inspectors
• 5 years of experience in Construction on industrial gases, oil & gas or related industry projects which should be construction site based.
• 3 years in relevant inspection activity.
• Team Player
• Strong communicator written and oral
• Strong and effective coordinator
• Organised, disciplined, able to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities and parallel tasks
• Strong Microsoft software skills, particularly Excel
• Report writing skills
• Experience of working in a multicultural project team
• Middle East project experience

• Experience in KSA
• Saudi Aramco experience
• Experience of working on camp based construction sites in remote Middle East locations
