The Company:
Our client is a leader within the Automation and Control Systems field with operations in 100 countries worldwide. They specialise in providing integrated solutions the transmission and distribution industry.

The Role:
• Lead the development of Alliance SHESQ policies & processes in compliance with Legislation, National Grid and partners policies and standards as well as Industry best practice.
• Define, document, maintain and continuously improve the Alliance Business Management System(s)
• Provide cost effective specialist SHESQ support and advice to tendering and project delivery teams throughout the life cycle of the project.
• Define and maintain the training & competency records for Alliance staff. Develop and manage the Alliance training budget, aided by the Training Manager
• Provide internal service for audit of projects and departmental processes in order to monitor performance & identify areas for improvement.
• Lead on the development of SHESQ performance improvement strategies and campaigns linked to key business objectives & targets for implementation internally & through supply chain partners.
• Produce and manage Area Alliance SHESQ KPIs and management information for review and action by Alliance management team which support Alliance and Pan Alliance objectives.
• Lead and support a team of SHESQ practitioners, advisors and support staff.
• Conduct annual PDA process for each report, ensuring that the performance of the team is managed effectively and development needs are identified and satisfied.
• Work proactively with departmental process owners to deliver concise workable processes which are compliant with Legislative & Alliance requirements and which seek to deliver industry best practices
• Through day to day involvement with tendering and project delivery teams, user change requests and routine reviews of the IBMS identify, justify and implement continuous improvement
• Provide specialist QHSE support through capture team meetings, project meetings, site visits, site inspections, audits, non project meetings, day to day adhoc requests etc.
• Provide input to PS competency matrix / management system to ensure robust and up to date records are available to aid Line Managers with staff allocation & development.
• Through internal source data / records and relevant external source data identify strategies to continuously improve communication, compliance and performance of PS in the delivery of key QHSE business objectives.
• Utilising internal & external data produce concise and pertinent management information for review & action by the Management Team in order to promote best practice.
• Formulate specific tasks to meet role objectives / accountabilities and deliver these through the establishment of an appropriately sized and competent SHESQ team
• Approval of SHESQ policy and SHESQ procedures/processes
• Embedding a robust & consistent SHESQ culture throughout all levels of the Alliance organization and key supply chain partners
• The delivery of £75-150m of capex p.a. to the very highest standards of Safety, Health, Environmental, Security and Quality.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Degree level education or equivalent (relevant to construction/engineering environment preferred).
• Member of a relevant professional body
• SHES Qualification e.g. NEBOSH
• Demonstrable experience at a management level showing capability in a number of key areas such as:
o People Management
o Financial Management
o Change Management
o Commercial acumen
o Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisations

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Strong working appreciate of National Grid/ESI safety rules
• Techical understanding of wide range of National Grid Electricity Transmission plant and equipment.
