Major oil & gas operator here in New Orleans, LA

The Role:
The Field Quality Team located in Houston, Texas is looking for an experienced completion rental tool Quality Control Specialist for the Gulf of Mexico (GoM). The position will be supervised on a day to day basis by the GoM Quality Management Engineer, located in New Orleans, and will report to the Field Quality Team Lead located in Houston, Texas. The position resides at building in New Orleans, with weekly supplier workshop visits required.

Responsibilities:
• Setting a clear HSE leadership example and promoting a high degree of HSE awareness among project stakeholders. Adhere to the Shell 12 Life Saving Rules.
• Oversee the activities of 6-12 dedicated Third Party Inspectors (TPI) at supplier workshop sites in the Lafayette, Houma and Houston areas.
• Provide 24/7 technical support to TPI personnel monitoring the NDE inspection, visual and dimensional inspection, assembly and function testing of completion rental/running tools.
• Make an agreed number of impromptu visits to suppliers in the Lafayette/Houma regions, performing documented assessments of TPI and supplier performance and acting as a leader/mentor to the TPI. Ensure the latest Service Quality Plan is in use at supplier work sites and that third party personnel are fully aware of our requirements and engaged with the job
• Ensure the agreed Shell completions Service Quality model is implemented during QAQC activities, including TPI documentation of all witnessed non-conformances during supplier NDE, visual and dimensional inspection, assembly and testing.
• Review and vet non-conformances and opportunities for improvement to Quality Management Engineer to be addressed at Quality Improvement Process meetings
• Review and assist in improving supplier procedures and checklists.
• Perform QAQC service quality process audits at supplier workshops (audit the supplier QAQC shop process to assess adherence to internal procedures and requirements). Training on audit methods and requirements will be provided by Shell.
• Review work order with third party personnel working at supplier sites and review specific equipment/tool requirements using well data
• Become intimate with well data through meetings with well engineers, reviewing tool lists, reviewing well bore schematic, attend CWOP, attend rig morning calls, review 7 day forecast
• Daily review of third party personnel surveillance reports
• 24/7 QAQC contact for completions personnel
• Assist in vetting and editing supplier non-conformances documented by TPI

Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant completion tool QAQC experience preferred. Candidates with at least 5 years experience with drilling tool QAQC may be considered.
• Expertise in completions rental specialty tool QAQC activities including: downhole valves, packers, cased hole and open hole wireline, service tools, cleanout tools, sand control, downhole gauge running tools, slickline
• Strong QAQC mindset and understanding of the importance of documenting supplier non-conformances to generate corrective actions in order to prevent recurrence
• Assertive but professional demeanor.
• Able to address a mixed audience of technical specialists, third party inspectors, engineers, QAQC personnel and operations personnel using both verbal and written communication.
• Understanding of API Q2 is preferred
• Prefer a minimum of two years of experience managing /overseeing third party surveillance activities.
• Ability to organize and present data to drilling team and quality management.
• Experience working directly with Completions Engineers and Superintendents
• Experienced with reading and interpreting DS-1 Fourth Edition, Volume3 and Volume 4
• Strong understanding of NDE methods MPI, UT, LP. ASNT SNT-TC-1A certification preferred.
• Strong report writing skills with proficiency in MS Office applications Word and Excel.
