The Role:
The role exists in order to provide independent advice and support to the delivery of projects and contracts, by ensuring that the Engineering/Project teams define the quality control and inspections requirements within design documentation and that an effective inspection strategy for the inspection of equipment delivered to our customers is established and deployed within the projects/contracts.

• Communicating with other Quality Control & Inspection Managers to ensure the effective utilisation of quality control and inspection personnel (Internal/External)
• Establishing with Projects future quality control and inspection workload
• Provide man hour/cost estimates as part of the quality input to bids / tenders and when requested provide estimates to complete to the Project Manager.
• Establishing quality control and inspection strategies for projects and Contracts.
• Liaising with customers to understand their requirements/expectations for quality control and inspection.
• Working with Engineering to ensure design deliverables adequately define the customers and internal quality control and inspections requirements e.g. attendance at Design Reviews.
• Liaising with Procurement to deliver quality control and inspection assignments.
• Reviewing Supplier up-front manufacturing documentation e.g.QCP’s, weld schedules, weld procedures, NDE procedures.
• Ensuring Supplier quality arrangements are reviewed and approved / acceptance in accordance with project requirements, including customer approvals, e.g. up-front manufacturing documentation [QCP’s, weld schedules, weld procedures, NDE procedures].
• Ensuring that suitably qualified and experienced personnel (SQEP) are utilised and have full knowledge of the requirements, standards, specifications, quality plans and procedures before conducting any inspection and subsequent acceptance of equipment.
• Producing and setting inspection assignments for Inspectors.

• Arranging and carrying out Inspection assignments, including liaison with Customers Inspection personnel, including:

- Carry out risk assessment prior to inspection assignments taking place.
- Inspection of actual equipment.
- Witnessing of specific tasks; NDE, functional testing, etc.
- Review and endorsement of supporting documentation throughout the life cycle of the contract; e.g. NDE reports, weld schedules, EC&I test documentation.
- Timely reporting if inspection assignments.
- Ongoing and final review of LTQR packages.
- Final release if procured items.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Good working knowledge of the Nuclear industry.
• Good working knowledge of all relevant regulations and legislation.
• Good working knowledge of the Customers quality requirements.
• Good working knowledge and application of ISO 9001.
• Good working knowledge of manufacturing techniques and processes.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Ideally be qualified to a HNC or equivalent in a relevant subject e.g. engineering.
• Have auditor training.
• Willing to travel to locations / sites throughout the UK and occasionally overseas
