The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
This role is working within the Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering (PTME) Group based at Whitley. PTME is responsible for the successful delivery of all aspects of Powertrain Manufacturing facilities and processes globally. The Quality Engineer will report to the PTME Quality Manager. As part of the Quality Team they will be responsible for the oversight of all aspects of the PTME quality system. They will provide the associated activities necessary to support Production Engineering activities. Key responsibilities for the role will include: Supporting deployment of the PTME Quality Operating System. Internal and external TS16949 Audit conformance. Supporting the zero faults forward strategy for the group. Six Sigma leadership including project identification, deployment and control. Provide oversight of the APQP process and facilitate its use within Powertrain Operations. Working with the process team to identify and utilise new quality systems and techniques. Facilitate all aspects of PFMEA and Control Plan creation. The responsibilities for this role include working with the quality teams in Plant Operations, Product Design and Company Quality to develop and deliver the PTME scorecard objectives. The Quality Engineer will ensure that the groups activities comply with all internal and external conformance standards. They will work closely with all the functions within Powertrain to develop and maintain standards that are specific to the Powertrain activities, as well as the working with Corporate Quality to ensure Company principles are followed. The role will also manage the external quality activities for the customer and supplier, including warranty feedback reporting.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the following: Supporting the implementation of the Quality Operating System in PTME, as well as focussing on its on-going development and improvement. Demonstrate Process adherence through confirmation. Ensure PTME is active in the supplement K cascade, developing and agreeing all Special Characteristics. Work with the wider group to establish a Six Sigma process within the PTME team. Active member of the team to develop internal and external audit compliance to standards including TS16949. Work with PD and PTME process teams to assist the DFMEA, PFMEA and Control Plan processes. Facilitate timely delivery of DCP and APQP cascades in line with the programme PCS deliverables. Ensure that the robust and timely process for problem resolution is adhered to within the Group. Attend departmental and programme meetings at all levels, representing the Quality team and presenting where appropriate. Develop and implement systems to ensure our facilities and processes are produced to meet or exceed customer requirements and expectations. Active engagement with the Tooling and Gauging team to ensure all aspects of measurement and test facilities are provided to ensure product conformance. Facilitate continuous improvement and learning across all functional areas through the training and communication of quality initiatives. Ensure PTME Quality is fully engaged with the change management process Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently, and in a team environment. Strong MS Office skills, including Word, Excel and Access. Able to interact with all levels inside and outside the organization. Demonstrated experience and strong skills in customer service and interaction. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Good working knowledge of Quality tools including PFMEA, DFMEA and control plans Six Sigma (DMAIC) methodology and tools. Black Belt is a plus. Experience of working with machining and assembly manufacturing engineering, including tooling and gauging. Ability to audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Knowledge of audit compliance including TS16949 Knowledge and familiarity with the Auto industry specifications/codes/standards.
