The Company:
Leading Nuclear Decommissioning Consultancy with offices throughout the UK. They are a major supplier to the nuclear industry working on a variety of projects for different sites.

The Role:
• Development, implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
• Developing, implementing and maintaining the QMS training programme, including undertaking training.
• Producing the internal audit programme(s) and the co-ordination / undertaking of such audits to ensure compliance to the company’s QMS.
• Managing and co-ordinating external audits
• Recommending continual improvement of the company’s QMS.

Accountability – The effective day to day operation of the quality department, including the activities undertaken by the quality personnel, inline with business needs.

Knowledge & Understanding

• Strong theoretical & practical knowledge; keeps up to date with new technologies and their application to RTS work
• Develops sound solutions without guidance
• Selects cost effective and timely solutions when assessing current technologies
• Leads idea selection and innovation within known boundaries

Practical Application

• Is expert in specialised area or can manage a multi-discipline team through all project phases
• Has experience to assess implications & mitigate risks when analysing complex problems
• Challenges subordinates to improve effectiveness and achieve critical business targets
• Identifies trends in performance over time, reviewing procedures and performance to enhance standards

Leadership & Management

• Ensures cost-effective use of resources to achieve commercial objectives
• Analyses, monitors and controls expenditure to ensure team achieve financial targets
• Seeks out and acts on customer feedback, anticipating changes in customer needs
• Establishes structures and procedures for major projects, overcoming organisational conflict
• Provides opportunities for others to assume responsibility, acting as mentor to foster staff development

Communications & Interpersonal Skills

• Handles difficult situations confidently always retaining the confidence of the internal & external customers
• Handles difficult situations confidently and removes restrictions to communications
• Negotiates assertively, anticipating others objections and modifying approach to achieve own objectives
• Encourages subordinates to support development initiatives, personally acting as mentor

Professional Conduct

• Works to improve performance by intelligent application of systems & procedures
• Strives to continually improve safety awareness & overall Company Environment, Health & Safety performance
• Is the ‘expert’ in selected codes or standards and able to advise others
• Acts as mentor facilitating professional development of others
• Identifies when change is required, overcomes resistance and redirects efforts to encompass changes

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• The job holder will ideally be qualified to degree level, or equivalent, in a relevant subject and ideally will have gained a professional quality management qualification, e.g. IRCA Lead Auditor (non-registered).
• The job holder will ideally be registered with the Institute of Quality Assurance (IQA).
• The job holder will have a minimum of five years relevant experience, including auditing, gained in a quality, project-based, engineering environment.
• The job holder will have a general commercial / contractual awareness.
• The job holder will be computer literate and have experience in using software packages relevant to the role e.g. word, excel, outlook, internet, etc.
• The job holder will have a good working knowledge of all relevant regulations and legislation applicable to the role.
