The Role:
Role:
• Evaluates and measures the civil construction work carried out by the main contractor and/or subcontractors in progress at site.
• Measures and agrees final quantities from AFC drawings during pre-conversion phase and monitors final quantities pre & post conversion.
• Assist in managing the contract through agreed valuations with the contractor based on site measured work as required.
• Provides input to agree variations and support assessment of contractor claims.
• Provides support to the lead cost engineer and assists with monitoring project progress and costs for the project services team by accurate measurement of the work required on a regular basis, further applying expert knowledge of costs and prices of work, labor, materials, and plant as required.
Scope:
• Implementing quantity surveying support. Coordinating with contractors, project (construction, PSCM) teams, cost engineer, planning engineer to interrogate and integrate cost and progress updates.
• Quantity surveyor supports project services team lead to provide quantity surveying support to the project manager.
Accountabilities:
• Accountable to the project services team lead to provide quantity surveying support to the project manager.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with project services and PSCM to prepare estimates, measure quantities, and agree final accounts.
• Assist estimating and PSCM in analysing and evaluating quantities/pricing submitted during the construction process.
• Develop and implement QS procedures and practices with contractors addressing units of measure, level of detail, frequency, deliverables, etc.
• Monitor drawing revisions and provide information to update quantities accordingly in the BOQ.
• Measure assistance and support evaluation of variations with contractors and subcontractors by reference to appropriate bill of quantities and rates.
• Ensure variations are managed in accordance with the project management of change procedures.
• Assist in preparing estimates for trends and the MoC procedure.
• Assist estimating in preparing and updating the estimate for the 6 month estimate reviews.
• Monitor contractor’s progress of the work by interfacing with contractors, the planning group, and via regular visits to marshalling yards, fabrication yards, and construction sites.
• Support validation of contractor progress payment applications and recommended payments.
• Prepare recommendations for invoice payments and post-contract cost control and final account.
• Forecast quantities to determine estimated final cost of measured work and quantity growth.
• Monitor use of consumables and temporary facilities; quantify surplus materials (overages).
• Assist cost engineering to calculate and validate Value of Work Done.
• Assist cost engineering and planning engineering in developing final forecast values.
• Provide analyses and advice on contractual claims for progress payments, additional work, and close-out.
• Ensure measurement data is properly received, documented, and stored in both hard and soft copies available for audit.
• Prepare reports for project management and other project groups as required.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Essential Education:
• A minimum of a bachelor degree in a technical or related discipline required.
Essential job experience:
• A minimum of 10 years major oil & gas project experience.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience associated with quantity surveying, cost engineering, and/or contract administration. Ideally possesses experience working on site locations with discipline construction contractors.
Desirable criteria and qualifications:
• Membership of a relevant professional body
