The Company:
Our client specialises in the design, manufacture, assembly, test, installation and commissioning of bespoke solutions for the nuclear industry.

The Role:
The client is happy to consider a more experienced QS/Contracts Manager as well as someone less experienced who would like to progress into this role. Eg someone from a Mathematics or Science Degree background

As the Quantity Surveyor/Contracts Manager on the project you will be responsible for, but not limited to:

Capable of identifying, raising, pricing, submitting and collating contract compliant change control

Making timely and accurate Interim Applications for Payment

Ensuring Interim Applications for Payment are presented in a constantly updated and standardised format, ensuring clarity to enable the Client QS’s to readily identify Contract variations as they arise

The Quantity Surveyor/Contracts Manager will be accurately and timely include all variations and changes in all Interim Applications for Payment including collation of necessary supporting information

Submitting regular up to date Projected Final Accounts to ensure there are no retrospective unknowns for the Client / the Client’s QSs and Project Managers

Attending Project and Commercial meetings where appropriate

Undertake Sub-Contract enquiries, tender analysis and procurement, ensuring Value for Money

The Quantity Surveyor/Contracts Manager will be involved in the Management of Sub-contracts including the regular monitoring of Profit / Loss on all Sub-contracts and their labour activities, highlighting significant Profit / Loss to the Project team.

Engagement with Sub-Contractors to agree value of work done, variations and any substantiation required

Accurate and timely approval of all Sub-Contractors applications whilst also ensuring all recoverable Sub-Contract variations are included in the Interim Applications for Payment on the Main Contract

Completing monthly Cost Value Analysis for each Project under their responsibility

Production of status reports with regard to change, forecasting and profitability

The Quantity Surveyor/Contracts Manager will be Providing basic Contractual advice where required

Maintaining awareness of the different forms of contracts in current use

Experience of working with NEC3 Engineering and Construction Contract, preferably Options A, C and E

Understanding the implications of Health and Safety regulations

Leading meetings and creating documentation in relation to Early Warning Notices (EWN) Compensation Events (CEN) and Compensation Events Quotations (CEQ)

Developing contractual letters and underpinning documentation to forward to clients in accordance with specific project terms and conditions, and NEC3.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Ideally 5 years’ experience in the construction, rail, oil & gas or nuclear industries, in a commercial role

Basic Contract Law and construction knowledge

The Quantity Surveyor/Contracts Manager will have Experience of Earned Value Management (EVM) on projects understanding the relevant metrics

Computer Literate – Able to collate information and prepare reports

Experience of drafting contractual correspondence on behalf of the Project Manager

Preferable working knowledge of Primavera P6 Software

• RICS recognised degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Commercial Management

• Preferably be member of the RICS (any level)

• If not already RICS APC qualified, Ideally be preparing to enrol onto the RICS APC via one of the recognised routes
