The Company:
Our client is a major oil and gas company within Australia and is the largest producer of gas to the domestic market within the country. Active for more than 40 years, they have the largest exploration portfolio by area and are currently listed as one of Australia's Top 30 Companies.

The Role:
This position will ensure early identification of commercial risks and trends, and minimization of cost growth. Monitor the EPC Contractor’s performance and ensure that the EPC Contractor properly implements all contract/commercial requirements at the construction location and that Company’s exposure to Variations, Delay Events, Delay Notices and Claims are factually supported.

Role involves:

Monitor the EPC Contractor’s performance of its contractual obligations
Identify any non-conformance by the EPC contractor in its execution of the Work and record such failures and their implications in the Claims database.
Hands on verification of physical quantities in the field to allow detailed preparation of estimates of costs for work.
Administer and update the claims management system.
Develop counter arguments to potential Claims identified or notified by the EPC Contractor and ensure that support for future use of these arguments is included in regular correspondence and in response to Contractor communications on the respective subject.
Evaluate ongoing correspondence, records of conversation to identify potential claim positioning.
Log into the claims mitigation system and recommend mitigating action.
Coordinate with external consultants as may be required in the preparation and assembly of evidence to support Company’s claims defence.
Provide support to all claims related and commercial negotiations as required. Contribute to the site exposure report highlighting areas of commercial exposure arising under the Contract Scope of Work; ensure the exposure report encapsulates all current issues and provides a meaningful tool for the early identification of elevated cost trends and associated mitigation opportunities. In Conjunction with the Cost Control Group, contribute to the assessment of the exposure value of pending and potential claims.

To ensure:

Full compliance with all applicable project policies and procedures.
Work effectively with PMT Members, Project Staff, Contractors and others to establish and maintain required working interfaces with technical groups during site execution Appraise the Lead Contracts Specialist at all times as to the activities of the Site Execution Team, the Main EPC Contractor and their suppliers and subcontractors on site.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Diploma/Degree holder in an engineering or commercial discipline
Extensive oil industry experience, preferably site based on large projects. Significant experience in quantity measurement techniques and contract interpretation.
Ability to cope in a positive and productive manner within a high-pressure environment as expected in a Project with an aggressive schedule.
