The Company:
The client is a leader within the Automation and Control Systems field with operations in 100 countries worldwide. They specialise in providing integrated solutions to the Transmission and Distribution and Oil & Gas industry with projects offshore and overseas.

The Role:
Quantity Surveyor required for a 6 month + assignment based at our client's Staffordshire offices.

Duties include but are not limited to:
- To ensure the profitable delivery of work programmes in line with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements
- To administer commercial activities to ensure timely and accurate submission of applications, and subsequent cost and value reporting
- Support Operational, Technical and Estimating staff and management in understanding and operating contract terms and conditions both with clients and supply chain.
- Assisting Operational, Technical and Estimating staff in the analysis and accounting of Risks and Opportunities both at tender stage and for the duration of live contracts.
- Monitor, and take all relevant actions to ensure compensation events are submitted in accordance with contract requirements and formulate any subsequent claims.

Key Objectives:
- Promotes a culture of excellence in Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality against a background of adherence to Company procedures
- Contributes to the business planning process at operational level
- Develops and manages client relationships at appropriate levels in his/her sphere of activity
- Promotes the client as the contractor of choice internally and externally
- Takes on an active role in staff development, training and succession planning and the optimal utilisation of all resources
- Ensures the profitable delivery of contracts to meet time, cost, quality, environmental and safety expectations and targets
- Promotes collaborative working and contributes to the team ethos

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Significant experience of Quantity Surveying in Power Distribution, Utilities or M&E
- Recognised qualification to at least HNC standard, preferably to MRICS or equivalent.
- Experience of NEC3, FIDIC and interpreting client adapted forms of standard forms of contract.
- Experience in monthly cost/value reporting and cash flow management both with clients and supply chain.
- Experience in preparation and presentation of compensation events and claims.
- Experience of collaborative working and strong communication skills both in partnership with Clients, and in liaising with the various specialist functions within the client organisation.
- Computer literate on standard MS Office Word, Excel etc.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Direct experience in HVDC installations
- Experience/understanding of planning processes and tools such as Microsoft Project
- Experience in SAP or similar project/commercial management tools such as COINS, AXIM or the like
- Experience of making presentations to groups utilising presentation tools such as power point.
- Experience of assisting the company in a marketing role at formal events such as exhibitions or informal client relationship building events
