The Company:
Our Client is a Japanese company who delivers rail system and maintenance service

The Role:
To be part of the Contracts Department through the design and construction process by proactive involvement in procurement, cost management, contract administration and reporting. To assist with getting best value from suppliers and subcontractors. Assist to evaluate and verify progress in regard to monthly applications for submission to the Client payment of subcontractors. Check and or compile measurement and pricing for submission of contract variations. Evaluation of Extensions of times and other claims. Timely submission and assist negotiation of final accounts to the client contractor and subcontractors.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Quantity Surveying:

• To carry out monthly valuations of work in progress, including forecasting of final costs.
• Assist to prepare and monitor project cashflow forecasts.
• Measure, value, submit and assist in negotiation of contract variations.
• Assist in providing advice to project staff on commercial and contractual matters including reviewing and drafting of correspondence.
• Assist to prepare, submit and negotiate project final accounts.
• Assist in commercial vetting of subcontractor tenders and contracts.
• Preparation of subcontractor monthly valuations and final accounts.
• Ensure that contractual and commercial processes are adhered to at project level.
• Assist in preparation and adherence to project purchasing targeting, budgets and procedures.

People Skills:

• Able to work well within a team based environment.
• Communicate regularly with project staff, specialist subcontractors and management to ensure contractual controls are in place,

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Technically qualified in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management or similar – Engineering degree or diploma. M&E background desirable with contractual / commercial experience.
• Minimum 5 years quantity surveying experience or similar preferably with M&E contractor.
• Contractually and commercially astute.
• Multi-tasking, self motivated, energetic team player with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
• Have good practical organisation and planning skills.
• Be able to provide both summarised and detailed reports, on current activities.
• IT Literate able to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc) and knowledge of Primavera could be beneficial.
• Experience in EPC contracts.
