The Role:
We are looking for Incursion Response Adviser to assist with Quarantine Surveillance on Barrow Island. This is a dynamic role that will evolve and change depending on surveillance and trapping outcomes and as such a high degree of flexibility is required and an ability adaptively respond to these changes. A high degree of team work is required to achieve outcomes in the constantly changing work environment.

This role supports the Operational Scientist and Biosecurity Science team in implementing a high priority incursion response on Barrow Island to eradication Asian house gecko. It primarily informs the Operational Scientist on results and progress in fulfilling planned activities but given the highly innovative nature of this work there is scope for providing advice to continually improve the quality of the response.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Collating, interpreting and presenting Quarantine incursion response data to the Operational Scientist and Biosecurity Science team for reporting purposes (including sound files from acoustic monitoring devices, trapping and associated by-catch data)
• Mapping of above data sets as required
• Assisting strategic directional change in Quarantine activities

• Implementing network of acoustic monitoring device deployment in the field
• Taking in to account site-specific environmental parameters, developing advice for the Operational Scientist regarding fine tuning of acoustic device network.

• Assisting in planning and application of wider long-term surveillance, trapping and treatment methodologies to achieve eradication outcome

• Planning and conducting active night surveillance activities and implement any appropriate active management strategies during this period, n conjunction with Operational Scientist

• Any other duties as required by the Operational Scientist

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
University Qualification Preferable.
Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Physical Science
