The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, seeks expertise for offshore mega-projects in Canada.

This opportunity is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only. First consideration will be given to residents of Newfoundland & Labrador.

The Role:
In accordance with the Atlantic Accord Implementation Acts and the Offshore Project Benefits Agreement, the Offshore Project has committed to spend approximately $120 MM (Canadian) Life of Field on Research and Development & Education and Training in Newfoundland. The policies, principles and processes guiding these expenditures is set out in the Offshore Project Benefits Plan, and the amendment to the Project Benefits Plan for HSE. The R&D coordinator will be responsible for identification and coordination of Offshore Project specific R&D activities and also working with Client to ensure the overall R&D program (for Offshore Project Requirements for nternal and regulatory requirements.

Key Tasks, Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

The job holder is responsible to:

• Coordinate with the Project Teams on an overall R&D program that meets internal and regulatory requirements
• Internal coordination and tracking of required approvals
• Steward internal R&D budgeting and progress tracking against overall R&D commitment, for various phases of the Project (Pre-development, Development, Operations)
• Coordinate Project Team, and consolidate input on R&D proposals
• Represent Project Teams at external R&D workshops and meetings as required

The majority of the research that is expected to be conducted will be oriented around the harsh environment offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, and aligned with Client R&D priorities. The job holder may be involved in R&D specific to various aspects of offshore developments. Examples may include but are not limited to the following: ice management, Emergency Escape, Evacuation and Rescue, protection of subsea infrastructure from iceberg impact, subsurface related R&D (enhanced oil recovery from marginal fields, three phase fluid flow) etc.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Licensed or Chartered Engineer preferred or Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline or technicians diploma
• High level understanding of the various components of offshore developments (subsurface, facilities, operations, commercial, etc.)
• 7+ years relevant experience in complex multidiscipline, Project environments, or Operations environment
• General familiarity with Atlantic Canada offshore regulatory requirements
• Solid presentation and written English skils
