The Role:
Job Responsibilities

• Handling in coming email, relay and save in the ‘O’ drive under “Inboxes” individual shared folders.
• Receipt and transmit email/facsimile/telephone communication to and from domestic and overseas and make necessary copies and distribution as required.
• Maintain SSB, VHF and Ground to Air radio contact between Songkhla and other radio stations based in Offshore, Vessels, Helicopters and Bangkok locations at all time 24 hours a day and 7 days a week in an efficient manner.
• Record the transaction of all messages and maintain a communication in the activity radio logbook. Events that may precipitate an enquiry should be recorded. Such events e.g. emergency radio transmission, telephone threats, building alarms, etc. must be entered with as much details as possible. Events details in the logbooks must be signed and retained for a period of 3 years.
• There is a Bomb Threat Tape Recorder placed in front of the Radio Operator’s counter and the Duty Operator bust active this by pushing the record button of there is a bomb threat call.
• Assist and coordinate the movement and control of contracted vessels in/outbound of Company.
• Prepare the electronic version of Daily Cargo Onboard Manifest. ( Cargo on Board Mailing)
• Daily Vessel Arrival & Remaining Onboard Report. The Duty Radio Operator has to respond to VHF radio calls from incoming vessels to gain information about the estimate time at Songkhla. At the same time details of the correct amount of dry & liquid bulk products remaining onboard, including fuel, water, dry bulk and saraline should be noted. These figures are required to develop a vessel load plan for the next sailing. The duty Radio Operator must give a copy of the document ROB report from each vessels to the Shipping & Receiving Group, Deputy director and Agency Prateep Sealand. The original document should be filed under “Vessel Arrival and Remaining Onboard”.
• Handling, Record and Update all vessel and any other information concerning with Radio Room Operation in radio room electronic database e.g. Vessel Shifting, Vessel delay departure report and Fresh water top up from PSB jetty etc.
• During the day when each vessel arrives or departs from Songkhla, the Radio Operator will have to update a crew list and passenger list into the POB Tracking database
• Songkhla Base radio station is the one station flight watch to monitor all in and outbound flights between Songkhla and the Field in case of emergency situation. It is vitally important the Duty Radio Operator is sufficiently proficient in English to be able to respond to check point calls and document details.
• Preparing Contractor ID Cards for new crew, visitors and long term contractors.
• Radio Room will be a communication aider when there is any Field Evacuation during an emergency 24/7.
• Day Shift Radio Operator
- To check the Duty Roster and Oil Spill Response Team list and ensure that it is not out of date.
- To print the Vessel Traffic Report and post this report on the Marine Notice Board in the briefing room as soon as it is received everyday.
- To print the Navigation Hazards Report and post this report on the Marine Notice Board in the briefing room as soon as it is received everyday.
- To forward the Bulk Report to the Marine control and other relevants as soon as it is received everyday and another copy must be given to the Shipping & Receiving group.
- To forward the email on Daily Vessel Schedule Report which is sent by the Dock and Transportation Group to OIM/DSM offshore and other concern personnel at Bangkok and Songkhla. Post this report on the Marine Notice Board.
- To prepare the Daily Bulk Movement Report. This information is collected from ROB reports submitted by each vessel that arrives Songkhla port on each particular day, and the load out manifest from Shipping & Receiving group.
- Everyday after receiving the Weather Report from Thai Met. the duty Radio Operator must print it out and post it on respective weather report board.

• Night Shift Radio Operator
- In the role as Telephone Operator – connect all telephone to/from offshore to everywhere. If there is a requirement for a long-distance call, mobile phone or connect to overseas then the details must be recorded in telephone user logbook.
- Coordinate with night shift Chief Security Guard responds to any emergency at the Base during the night.
- Receive Drilling Morning Report from Bangkok Radio Room and print out 4 copies for SKL Shorebase Manager, SKL Warehouse Superintendent, Drilling Coordinator Supervisor and Contractors in the morning meeting room.
- If an emergency situation develops report to the Duty Roster Supervisor immediately, or if need to SKL Shorebase Manager.
- To collect and forward POB offshore received from fields to relevant person.
• As a security surveillance system or Close Circuit TV is installed at Songkhla radio room, it is the responsibility of Radio Operator to help watch when available and random spot as necessary.
• Radio Operators on duty may be assigned other duties by Supervisors.
• Radio Operators on duty have to inform and booking SKL pilot for both arrival and departure vessel. Also to coordinate with Prateep sealand agency for pilot pick up.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualifications (Education, Work Experience, English and Computer Skills)
• Bachelor’s degree in Air Traffic Control Graduate from Civil Aviation Training Center College is preferred.
• Non ATC graduate should be taken GMDSS-GOC Course and certified by Merchant Marine Training Center.
• 1-2 years prior related experience (Radio 2)
• 2-4 years prior related experience (Radio 1)
• 5 years experience up (Logistics Radio Operator)
• Able to utilize Telephone/Email/Fax and Radio on VHF, SSB, CB & ATG.
• Able to utilize PC and minimum require programs on Microsoft Excel, Word, Access & Power Point.
• Able to work night shift on a 12 hrs/day basis.
• Good service minded.
