The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, seeks expertise for offshore mega-projects in Canada.

This opportunity is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only. First consideration will be given to residents of Nova Scotia.

The Role:
As the Regulatory & Environment Lead you will be responsible for defining and leading implementation of regulatory and environemental compliance activites for the project. The Regulatory and Environmental Lead is needed to develop effective relationships with regulatory agencies and other external stakeholders, and work closely with the project team to ensure that all regulatory and environment compliance requirements are detailed, understood, and integrated within the overall project execution plan.

Your responsibilities as the Regulatory and Environmental Lead may include:
• Leading the development of all project regulatory and environment deliverables, including defining and documenting the Project Regulatory & Environmental Compliance Plan to address permit / approval requirements for all project phases and ensure compliance with applicable Acts and Regulations.
• Interfacing with regulatory agencies with regard to project requirements, including regulatory approvals required for the project and management of any ongoing legislative change.
• Interfacing with project technical and execution project team members to ensure regulatory requirements / standards and their implications are properly understood and integrated into project plans.
• Identifying and overseeing resolutions for all project execution risks relating to regulatory interfaces.
• Overseeing specialist consultants as required to obtain necessary information.
• Reviewing contractor environmental and regulatory plans, documents and deliverables for acceptability.
• Leading preparation of project internal environmental and regulatory stewardship reports as required.
• Assisting project team, as appropriate, on special tasks and studies related to regulatory compliance activities.
• Identifying and providing appropriate responses to the diverse interests of project stakeholders including government, co-venturers and the public.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or other Environmental disciplines
• Significant environmental and regulatory related experience in the upstream oil and gas industry
• Upstream oil and gas project execution experience, including development and implementation of regulatory and environmental compliance plans.
• Must be must be versed in regulatory codes, directives and understand regulatory expectations.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation
• Experience dealing with stakeholders and government regulators.
