The Role:
The Reliability & Maintenance Engineer’s prime responsibility is the prevention of critical equipment failures and elimination of recurring defects in a systematic and sustainable way. The Reliability & Maintenance Engineer is the focal point for surface related issues regarding availability and reliability of equipment systems, equipment operation, and equipment health. The engineer is responsible for the implementation of several areas of the Client Operational Excellence Standard.

In delivering activities the incumbent shall:

Reliability analysis and structural problem solving:
Assure that reliability/availability targets are being achieved by monitoring plant/equipment reliability and availability, and preventing, and eliminating critical failures by applying root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies.
Lead reviews of process and equipment failures, using structured problem solving techniques such as Apollo root cause analysis and 5-WHY’s.

Reliability & Maintenance reporting:
Create Reliability/Availability reports by collating and analysing data from the production deferment database and various maintenance management systems.
Maintain bad actor listing from various databases.

Reliability & Maintenance strategies and equipment performance:
Supports reviewing the preventive maintenance plan as part of the 5- yearly review cycle, utilising risk and reliability management (RRM) processes. This includes identification of critical spares.
Reviews SAP preventive maintenance task lists to ensure they are fit for purpose, and in compliance with the Maintenance Performance standards and procedures and instructions.
Co-responsible for maintaining the facility maintenance reference plans (MRP) to achieve production and technical integrity targets within end of field life.
Ensure that production and technical integrity targets are met by effective preventive maintenance, based on reliability expertise and in-depth knowledge of the equipment condition, reliability characteristics, modes and risks of failure.
Have a good knowledge of condition based maintenance (CBM) techniques and their application to support the Asset.
Identify and highlight equipment deterioration at an early stage to initiate adequate actions.

Reliability modelling and input in design:
User and custodian of the CNNS reliability and availability models (SPARC or MAROS).
Give reliability and maintenance support to projects and modifications ensuring good quality reliability & maintenance deliverables for hand-over.
Apply life cycle costing (LCC) methodologies to support reliability and maintenance decisions.

Reliability & Maintenance support/coaching:
Provides support to CNNS teams. Coach and train production operations staff, graduate field engineers and other engineers.

Several of the facilities have offshore Reliability Engineers, but not 100% of the time, and it is essential to maintain excellent communications and work as a team to deliver the required results.

The position is onshore based however it is envisaged that there will be times when visits to the offshore installations are necessary to provide support.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
With a BSc. Degree/ HND (or equivalent) with Engineering experience in rotating, mechanical, electrical or instrumentation discipline, and an understanding of equipment and dominant failures for this discipline. You will have sound experience in reliability and maintenance engineering in the oil and gas industry. Good knowledge of Maintenance methodologies like RCM, FMEA, PMO and CBM. Previous experience of RCA work would be beneficial but not essential as training will be provided.

Have the ability to work within a matrix organization, reporting to the CNNS Head of Reliability. A first-class advocate and communicator, you’ll have excellent facilitation and IT skills (like Excel and Word), with a strong focus on Production, Technical Integrity and Cost. A team player with good interpersonal skills and a service provision mindset, you’ll be comfortable with auditors, third party operators and external verifiers and regulators.
