The Role:
the main purpose of the role will be to continuously improve business and safety critical equipment reliability and system performance through the application of reliability engineering principles on platform topside operations equipment.
It will also entail proposing and implementing maintenance strategy, process or procedural improvements relating to platform equipment as directed.
Collation and analysis of equipment maintenance and operational data to ensure identification of trends or repeat failures requiring specific intervention.
Proposing, developing and implementing optimised maintenance strategies and associated maintenance routines for critical machinery, using RCM techniques where appropriate.
Performing Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) on critical equipment or system failures.
Support discipline engineers during site fault finding activities where directed.
Proposing product improvements or assessing the use of innovative technology in response to significant equipment or procedural issues.
Specify technical solutions to known reliability issues in conjunction with discipline engineers, specialist vendors and equipment suppliers.
Carry out vendor visits for factory acceptance testing, performance testing or company witness activities as directed.
Provide both technical and facilitation support to Maintenance Strategy Engineers, Discipline Support Engineers and offshore maintenance personnel to ensure effective implementation of maintenance strategy improvement projects.
Conduct site or vendor visits to gather input or technical information in support of agreed reliability engineering activities.
Produce periodic and ad hoc reports on the status of ongoing reliability engineering activities, highlighting any issues or concerns in good time.
Management of specific 3rd part specialist vendor activities as directed (i.e. condition monitoring , RCM studies etc).
Assist with HSEx, IVB or incident action follow up where directed.
Create strong working relationships across the following interfaces:
Maintenance Engineers
Technical Authorities
Process Engineering
Engineering
Vendors

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Engineering degree in mechanical, instrument or electrical related disciplines preferred.
Minimum qualification HNC, HND or a time served offshore discipline technician with a recognised NVQ (or equivalent) qualification.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Willing and able to visit offshore, as required
CMMS exp, preferably Maximo
Understanding of Reliability Centred Maintenance techniques.
Understanding of Condition Monitoring techniques and their application offshore.
Significant experience in the application of Root Cause Failure Analysis techniques.
Must possess relevant oil and gas industry experience in a similar, technical role
Sound knowledge of the functionality and operation of a typical North Sea production platform.
Detailed understanding of typical integrity and maintenance management processes for a North Sea production platform.
Experienced in the development, optimisation and implementation of maintenance strategies in the oil and gas sector.
Ability to perform detailed analysis of operational and maintenance data to identify areas requiring intervention.
Ability to effectively prioritise issues and own workload such that appropriate resource is delivered to critical work areas.
