The Role:
1. KEY OBJECTIVES


• Represent Murphy as a seconded Reservoir Engineer in PVEP POC’s offices in HCM, in order to support Block 15-1/05 activities through technical assessments of development, appraisal and exploration projects

• In order to ensuring Murphy’s best interests, effective influence will be crucial as well as working closely together with the rest of the team in PVEP POC’s offices and Murphy’s offices.

• Contribute to the multi-disciplinary Lac Da Vang (LDV) Development Team providing full reservoir engineering input: including well test interpretation, reservoir characterization, PVT analysis, material balance, reservoir simulation, well design and production optimization.

• Establish reservoir strategies through the full lifecycle, from exploration and appraisal through to development planning.

• Create fit for purpose development scenario’s including well count, rates and production profiles.

• Work with extended team members in drilling, facilities, other subsurface disciplines and economics to assess development solutions and complete economic evaluations.

• Participate in technical meetings with other groups, government bodies and the national oil company


2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Contribute to the LDV development project with special emphasis on the natural fracture characterization and modeling.

• Conduct the basic reservoir engineering data analysis, which includes the integration of SCAL, core analyses, well tests, PLTs and PVT data.

• Produce scoping level development plans, formulating well count, rates and production profiles using fit for purpose techniques and analogues.


• Conduct reservoir simulation and network modelling studies designed to define the optimum full field reservoir development plans (primary, secondary, and tertiary depletion scenarios).

• Assess the key Reservoir engineering risks and opportunities associated with the development and develop an uncertainty management plan to mitigate the risks and harvest potential upside.

• Work within an inter-disciplinary team to build and quality control field evaluations.

• Collaborate with exploration and facility disciplines on potential opportunities for field appraisal and development planning.

• Plan, prepare documentation and presentation materials.

4. WORKING RELATIONSHIP

• Reporting to and advising senior management on reservoir engineering, field development and reserves issues.

• Contribute effectively to team work, discussions and schedules. Liaise with other Team members as well as Murphy staff in the HCM and other offices.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Vietnamese
5. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Higher Degree (MSc, PhD.) in Petroleum Engineering or related subject will be considered an advantage.

• Strong written and spoken English and Vietnamese language skills.

• Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills necessary for interaction with the other team members, management, contractors, government organizations, etc.

• Minimum 8+ years of a broad experience in reservoir engineering, a substantial part of which should be with operating oil companies, preferably in Vietnam. Exposure to a variety of reservoirs and hydrocarbon phases – a diversity of asset experience is preferred.

• Familiarity and experience with the development approval process in Vietnam, from RAR through to ODP/FDP.

• Experience of industry standard reservoir engineering software (Eclipse, Petroleum Experts, Saphir, etc.).

• Experienced with the characterization of natural fractured reservoirs as well as the reservoir engine
