The Company:
Our client has been established for over 20 years locally and is focused on delivering design solutions to the nuclear industry, specialising in the design of mechanical handling plant and equipment, the design and installation of plant control systems and the provision of support to plant safety reviews.

The Role:
The Responsible Engineer will have experience of working on AWE projects familiar with delivering AWE design process and procedures

10 years' experience in a design role in a similar highly regulated industry.

5 years experience of providing technical leadership in delivery of projects

Understanding of other disciplines sufficient to enable him or her to technically manage the whole project.

The Responsible Engineer will have Credible and respected in engineering disciplines across the industry

Experienced in managing design teams using CAD / CAE package(s) - Inventor

Excellent communication and influencing skills

High level development and coaching skills

Ability to manage his / her workload and that of their team

Ability to read and understand new procedures and standards

The Responsible Engineer will be fully conversant with the principles CE marking

Working knowledge of EC Directives relevant to their discipline and the project

Working Knowledge of the requirements of the CDM regulations


The Responsible Engineer will have a track record of technically leading teams with detailed knowledge of the nuclear industry

Must have an awareness of the principles associated with:

HAZID / HAZOP studies

Gated design processes

Safety cases

An appreciation of the wider aspects of nuclear engineering

An awareness of relevant design tools, techniques and method

Experience of decommissioning projects

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role

Experience of a nuclear decommissioning project

Knowledge of remote engineering would be desirable but not essential. (Mechanical handling using cranes, robots and master slave manipulators, bulges)

Knowledge of ILW encapsulation systems would be desirable but not essential.

Effective communication within team and with stakeholders

Technical knowledge and understanding of the Nuclear industry and safety case production

Fully understand EC Directives relevant to their discipline and the project.

Fully conversant with the CDM regulations

Clear understanding of the principles associated with; HAZID / HAZOP, gated design processes and safety cases

An experienced user of the relevant design tools, techniques and methods.

Bachelor's engineering / science degree or HNC
Chartered Status
