The Role:
NOTE: THIS POSITION IS AVAILABLE ONLY FOR AZERBAIJAN CITIZENS
• Overseeing and influencing the drilling contractor such that the delivery of Semi-Submersible rig shipyard upgrade is completed to schedule and cost. • Technical specialist for drilling rig equipment and Semi-submersible vessel compliance. • Endorsement of engineering design elements and deliverables. • Interface closely with Vendors/Suppliers and Drilling Contractor to implement agreed solutions and optimizations. • Review factory acceptance tests (FATs) and Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) of all new rig equipment relating to the equipment purchased and being installed on behalf of Client. • Input to design, safety and (HAZard Operational (HAZOP) / HAZard Identification (HAZID) and Control HAZard Operational (CHAZOP) reviews as required by the project schedule. • Approve all Management of Change (MoCs) relating to the project that has a direct cost to Client. • Identify weaknesses and inefficiencies in the current rig systems and equipment, and recommend cost effective repairs / upgrades / replacements as identified by studies. • Prepare Technical Scopes of Work and Shipyard Contract for the Engineering and Shipyard Conversion • Evaluate Shipyard Technical / Commercial proposals and engineering / construction schedules for the Rig Upgrade Projects • Manage the drilling contractor and ship yard construction company performance, to their standards, procedures and process in relation to the upgrade and delivery schedule. • Contribute to developing a long term strategy for ownership and integrity assurance of the Client owned mobile rig fleet in Azerbaijan

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Engineering Degree or Technology Certificate (Mechanical Engineering or equivalent).
• Engineering Degree or Technology Certificate (Mechanical Engineering or equivalent). • 10 years Detail Engineering / Shipyard Construction experience with Major Oil Company / Drilling Contractor • Relevant industrial experience, (a combination of hands on, supervisory and engineering activity) has a relevant qualification or equivalent theoretical understanding. Able to judge the sufficiency of personnel capability (staff, contractors and vendors) for the scope of his/her engineering responsibility. • Experienced in the principles of risk management and able to participate in Hazops and Hazids. Able to initiate and participate in task risk assessments.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Managed the development of a local / multinational workforce and performed the roles of coach/ mentor.
- Aptitude to innovate and be open to new ideas.
- Competence with Landmark well engineering software packages ( DIMS, Wellplan, etc).
- IWCF Well Control certified or equivalent.
- Educated to first degree level in drilling engineering or equivalent.
- Flexible approach to work.
