The Role:
Rig Positioning Surveyor OSR’s primary function is to assist in the planning, execution, evaluation and continuous improvement of offshore rig move positioning services provided to a the clients drilling organization. To ensure customer requirements are met and customer risks are managed, with special emphasis on HSE, asset and information integrity.

a)Carry out detailed survey / positioning engineering for mobile rig positioning and mooring, ensuring appropriate government, regulatory, and corporate requirements are met, etc.
b)Review mooring procedures developed by the mooring contractor and provide input.
c)Participate in Rig Move Procedure Review Meetings in the office (Houston or New Orleans), onboard the Anchor Handling Vessels, or onboard the rig.
d)Define safe tow routes and safe zones near assets for mooring activities.
e)Represent client Geomatics to internal and external customers including governmental authorities, partners, and contractors regarding survey issues both technical and regulatory.
f)Promote and preserve HSE through appropriate planning, auditing, inspections, and participation in HEMP, HAZID, and HAZOP, etc. exercises.
g)Analyze the operational and technical performance of survey resources, identifying the weaknesses and translating into remedial actions with the aim to improve performance, quality, value and cost effectiveness of services delivered to customers.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
a)B.S. degree in Geomatics Engineering or related field or a technical degree with a minimum of 10 years experience.
b)A Rig Positioning Surveyor should be a highly motivated individual with good communication and networking skills.
c)He/she should have a strong business sense coupled with the commitment to deliver step changes in terms of project efficiency and profitability.
d)The person needs to be a "self starter" and not afraid to challenge existing norms and to "bounce" ideas around.
e)Prior work in the projects environment, drilling, rig mooring, management of survey crews and working in multi disciplined teams are a distinct advantage.
f)Individual will be required to have the appropriate HSSE training, Passport, and TWIC prior to going offshore

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
a)Offshore knowledge and experience in rig move operations and mooring activities required.
a)Knowledgeable / familiar with surface positioning systems (GPS, DGPS)
b)Activities include office planning and offshore oversight of survey / positioning contractors onboard the drilling rigs.
c)One to three offshore survey contractor staff will report to the Rig Positioning Surveyor.
d)A failure in the survey aspects of a rig move could result in drilling a well in the wrong location and potentially missing a discovery, or trespassing on someone else’s lease and incurring fines on top of the added cost of removing the rig. A failure in positioning could also result in damage to pipelines or other subsea assets from the mooring lines.
e)The role is HSE critical. In addition to the direct exposure of the survey crew during execution, the realtime positioning data acquired during these surveys is used to ensure the placement of anchors and mooring lines is safe and appropriate.
