The Company:
Multinational in Oil and Gas market with drilling service to Petrobras in Brazil, in the process of growth in this country.

The Role:
Main Responsibilities:
• Overall responsibility for the effective and safe operation of the vessel, ensuring that all operations are carried out in accordance with safety regulations and relevant operational procedures
• Ensure that operations are conducted in line with policies and procedures
• To provide effective leadership and ensure clear communication for all direct reports
• Accountable for the budget and cost control
• Assist the Area Manager in marketing of the drilling unit
• Assist in the interview process, promotions, transfers and succession planning of crew
• Chairs daily safety and operations meetings
• Provide technical and operational advice to crew
• Assist in the writing and updating of procedures
• Approve requirements for personnel, materials and technical support
• Plan and manage drilling crew activities to ensure safe and efficient drilling operations
• Continually work to improve operations and best practices
• Ensure maintenance is completed to enhance and retain asset values and marketability
• Completely timely reviews of operations
• Maintain all necessary documentation so that accurate reporting can be provided
• Maintain a safe environment for all vessel employees and visitors, including ensuring on-going development and training of employees
• Be familiar with the drilling unit and its equipment, systems, manuals and procedures
• Responsible for ensuring that all operations are carried out in accordance with the fixed program and that the operation is executed in a safe and proper manner
• Ensure that necessary spares, consumables and equipment for the drilling rig are available onboard at the correct (required) levels
• Maintain a high housekeeping standard on the drilling rig
• Ensure that all accidents, near-miss accidents and non-conformances within his area of responsibility are reported in accordance with the established procedures
• Communicate on daily basis with the Rig Manager onshore keeping them well informed of any matter of importance for operation of the drilling unit
• Keep the "Handover Book" updated at all times so the relief can quickly get acquainted with the present situation onboard
• Organise management meetings onboard
• Maintain a good working relationship with the section leaders, supervisors and with the Operator's representative
• Ensure that all equipment is maintained in accordance with the preventive maintenance program
• Ensure that new employees are given the necessary introduction/instructions
• Carry out duties according to the Emergency and Contingency Manual when needed

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Required Experience:
• Fluent English
• Applicants must have previous experience working in a similar position and level of responsibility, preferably including in-depth technical training onboard a Semi Submersible or Drillship. This will include a strong understanding of systems, equipment and the importance of correct maintenance procedures
• The Rig Superintendent needs to have previous experience as Rig Superintendent and minimum 2 years experience as Toolpusher or Technical Section Leader/Engineer. Proven leadership and focus on effective teamwork
• Industry training in areas of drilling, production technology, QHSE, contracts and operations

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Required Qualifications and Certificates:
• All certificates must be current and internationally recognized.
• Applicants who are degree qualified in a relevant subject and/or who have completed a Graduate or Fast Track scheme are preferred although this is not essential
• Well Control Certificate - Subsea Supervisor Level
