The Company:
Our major Oil & Gas Client is in need of a Rotating Equipment Engineer in Houston, Texas on an Ad-Hoc basis.

The Role:
The Rotating Equipment Engineering group provides specialist advise on any aspect concerning rotating equipment engineering and maintenance with the objective of ensuring safe, reliable and cost-efficient operation of machinery. The successful candidate will be expected to work for all businesses in the Client Group, e.g. Upstream, Downstream and Projects and Technology.

Position description - Accountabilities

- Participation in Projects wrt Rotating Equipment
- Provision of Rotating Equipment engineering services to existing OU's, JV's and 3rd parties, de-bottlenecking studies, reliability improvement projects, Root Cause Analysis and failure diagnosis investigations
- Provision of Rotating Equipment engineering input to Group Training and delivery of training
- Providing input to Group Standards (DEP's)
- Individual and collective team performance
- Support the Rotating Equipment initiatives COMPRI and SmartConnect
- Support development of new equipment technologies, identify and facilitate application and deployment
- Support standardization efforts of equipment specifications and other similar initiatives

Position description - Dimensions

You will be operating within the Client Projects and Technologies Rotating Equipment Engineering team. This team consists of 4 Rotating Equipment Engineers in Canada, and approximately 14 in Houston and New Orleans currently.
You will also work independently at customer facilities during site visits

Position description - Special Challenges

- Providing advice across the broad spectrum of Rotating Equipment engineering expertise at various phases and asset life-cycle
- Working with a diverse range of worldwide suppliers and colleagues requires effective communication skills
- Prioritising a demanding and varied workload
- Contributing to a self-managing team
- Give advice on operational and engineering/maintenance aspects of Rotating Equipment, failure diagnosis and root cause analysis incl.
- Give conceptual and detailed advice on various types of rotating equipment for projects, revamps and studies
- Specify, evaluate and select Rotating Equipment, attend to acceptance tests and performance verifications
- Maintain contacts with vendor and operating units to optimise the use of design, equipment and best practices.
- Display a commercial mindset in selling his/her work to customers thereby maintaining a good eye to the business driving forces and customer relations at all times.
- Working as a team member at times in virtual teams
- Communicate effectively and competently in English (both written and oral communication)

Business travel is about 30-40%.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
You will have a BS degree in Mechanical engineering. You will have at least ten years experience in the Pump, Compressor and Turbine sector, covering various aspects of equipment lifecycle in order to be credible with your peers. This would certainly include design, construction and operations. You will have had experience in different operating environments, as we intend to provide user solutions for a wide range of conditions. Optimisation techniques will be applied during the development of agreements. Previous experience with a manufacturer would be advantageous. You will be looking to enhance your commercial, strategy and marketing skills. It is a requirement that you can operate in a team, albeit that the nature of this job requires that you are able to independently develop strategies and execute your own work plan. You must have the skills to communicate and negotiate with vendors effectively.
