The Company:
A Major international oil and gas operator seeks a Drilling Engineer to work on a rotational position in Kurdistan.

The Role:
Position Title: Drilling Engineer (rotational)
Work Location: Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq
Assignment Type: Rotational (28 x 28 days)
Assignment Start Date: November 2012

Job Description:
•Prepare detailed engineering designs and coordinate all phases of planning and drilling a well
•Ensure the geological and reservoir objectives of the well are met while assuring the highest standards of engineering integrity, safety, and environmental protection are applied to the design and execution of the well
•Prepare designs and well plans representing the optimal costs and investments for the proposed wells
Task and Responsibilities:

Primarily responsible for:
1.Preparation of cost estimates to support well funding and operational decisions
2.Material and equipment selection and evaluation
3.Meeting government regulatory requirements and obtaining required approvals and permits
4.Technical bid preparation and analysis
5.General well planning
6.Development and review of drilling programs
7.Daily surveillance of drilling operations
•Work closely with other groups to assure the program is based on all available geological and reservoir information and drilling information from other wells in the area
•Surveillance of daily operations to insure the program is conducted to apply best technology and proposed modifications if applicable
•Analyze drilling/operational performance
•Assist to implement changes in the procedures and equipment based on results of analysis
•Provide onsite drilling surveillance and engineering assessments and present recommendations to Operations Superintendent on critical activities and problems (as required during execution phase)
•Provide onsite surveillance and technical assistance on special projects, equipment testing and new procedures

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•15 – 20 years minimum well construction experience
•Strongly prefer experience with (i) carbonates, (ii) high losses, (iii) high H2S, (iii) remote land operations, (iv) Kurdistan drilling experience
•Highly developed communication skills and proficient in typical Microsoft computer based applications
•Minimum B.S. degree in engineering or related technical field
•Prior employment with major Operator
•Read, write and speak fluent English
