The Company:
A major EPCM Client working on multiple projects in Australia.

The Role:
Reporting to the Safety Superintendent the Safety Advisor’s role is to provide support to the Safety Superintendent through the implementation of the HSE Procedures. The Safety Advisor is required to demonstrate leadership and commitment in relation to the implementation of the HSE Management Plan.

Specific Responsibilities:

Assist managing Project Staff and Contractors working in their area of the project with respect to:-

 HSE System implementation;

 Coordinate with the Safety Superintendent to manage impact on other activities;

 Interface with project staff for HSE matters and support services;

 Design, develop, prepare & conduct safety training

 Preparation of data on safety performance, identification of trends & opportunities for improvement

 Conducting accident & incident investigations & propose new systems of work or equipment where appropriate

 Assist managing change and recording and obtaining authorisation in accordance with Project Change Management Procedures.

 Assist in the implementation of all aspects of the HSE Procedures including audits/inspections of the contractors’ areas, hazard card reports, accident/incident investigations reporting, issue of access permits, safe behavioural observations, conducting additional safety meetings and weekly workplace Inspections as and when required etc.

 Assist in ensuring that relevant contractors and personnel adhere to the HSE Procedures. Assist in identifying HSE training (and awareness) needs for the project.

 Conduct the induction of all project workforce and visitors on HSE responsibilities.

 Carry out instructions or directions given by the Registered Mine Manager from time to time to ensure compliance with the Mines Safety & Inspection Act 1994.

 Actively participate in and support Zero Incident and Injury culture.

 Support and supervise the Behaviour Based Coaching of Contractors and supervisors on the Project site.

 Review and provide guidance for the implementation of Emergency plans and procedures for the site.

 Conduct formal inspections/Audits during the Project

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
 Ability to implement the site management plan

 Ability to schedule and undertake internal HSE audits

 Ability to create/develop work instructions, procedures & JSAs

 Knowledge of Duty of Care requirements

 Ability to schedule external HSE audits

 Ability to collect/input data and prepare reports

 Ability to provide advice and train others in safety related matters

 Knowledge of HSE Procedures and their implementation

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
OHS Cert IV accreditation, Cert IV training and assessment
Previous HSE role, significant EPCM previous experience
