The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
Reporting to the Central SSHE Safety & OI Team Lead, the position will support GREF Planning & Design (P&D) Security, Safety, Health and Environmental (SSHE) processes as required by OIMS and GREF P&D. The position is responsible for sustainment of all aspects of GREF P&D LPS requirements during the project work on site. The position will liaison with refinery personnel, onsite consultant project managers, the general contractor and sub-contractors in support of GREF P&D Team.

• Provides support to execute work safely as per the safety standards and practices through field monitoring and coordination of the safety programs.
• Support all aspects of LPS for GREF work including:
o Work to develop a culture of reporting all Near Losses and Losses
o Assisting Contractor Management and personnel in the application of LPS tools(JSA, LPO, NL, SPSA and LI reporting)
o Quality review of LPS stewardship materials
o Conducting daily LPS follow-ups in the field to assess procedural compliance and tool quality
o Field support for SPSA stewardship
o Assist in scheduling New-To-Site/orientation LPS training.
o Participating in monthly LPS Stewardships
o Assisting with OIMS 8.1 GREF and Site requirements.
o Verify training records of workers on-site, as required
• Supports business continuity planning and required Care Management Drills.
• On-site Lead for GREF P&D SSHE investigations or support for Contractor led investigations.
• Complete daily walkabouts to each project site to assess safety and compliance during the work execution phase of the project
• Resolve day-to-day questions and concerns on safety standards and work issues
• Complete monthly site safety assessments as per OIMS requirement
• Ensure adherence to GREF Facilities Environmental Aspects Plan, Hazardous Chemical Management process and Regulatory Compliance plan
• Liaison with refinery personnel for SSHE interfaces
• Liaison with General Contractor for SSHE interfaces
• Ensures site compliance with GREF Safety manual, food safety guidelines, LPS standards, etc.
• Participate in, provide guidance and leadership in Contractor Toolbox Talks
• Any other SSHE tasks as required

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Post-Secondary education in Safety, Health and Environment
• Previous LPS Core Team experience
• Excellent presentation skills
• A demonstrated commitment to safety in the workplace, and in particular a demonstrated history of positive engagement and work group leadership in LPS activities
• Strong interpersonal skills with good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to be a safety leader
• Knowledge of facility related regulatory requirements
• Understanding of Imperial expectations including OIMS and LPS requirements.
• Working towards or achieved the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or equivalent
