The Company:
Our Client is an International Company involved in the supply of Energy globally. Their Operations cover Exploration, Production and Downstream and at present they have projects in over 25 Countries worldwide.

In Australia they are involved in one of the largest LNG Projects, including both Gas and Condensate which is currently in FEED (Front End Engineering Design) Stage.

The Role:
The Safety & Loss Prevention Engineer will be required to provide safety and loss prevention engineering support to both the onshore and offshore teams of a major LNG project. The primary objective of this position will be to work with the existing safety & risk team to support the preparation of design safety cases for all elements of the project.

A key responsibility of this objective will be to ensure consistency across the project. The design safety cases will form part of the Client's early regulatory engagement strategy. In addition to this, another primary role of the position shall be responsible for preparation of in-house safety risk assessments and various specialist studies completed by third party contractors/consultants.

The main responsibilities of this role include, but is not limited to:

•Work proactively with the existing safety engineering team to ensure that safety cases developed for the onshore and offshore facilities are fit for purpose and will meet regulatory expectations. Work to assure consistency of safety case input across the major elements of the project,
•Provide technical expertise and support in the field of safety engineering including: hazard identification; hazard analysis using Bowtie techniques; fire and explosion analysis, assessment and protection
•Risk communication including development of major accident event hazard registers, identification of safety critical elements and the development of appropriate performance standards for design and operation,
•Act as a focal point for key safety and risk engineering techniques e.g fault tree analysis and reliability modelling,
•Evaluate and monitor key vendors with respect to performance of plant, equipment and systems, and
•Demonstrate and encourage empathetic team work as a member of a culturally diverse organisation

The Safety & Loss Prevention Engineer will be required to travel to EPC locations.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Tertiary qualifications and/or professional registration in a relevant engineering discipline e.g. chemical engineering, mechanical engineering,
•Minimum 2-3 years of safety engineering, loss prevention engineering and asset protection programmes for the developing Oil & Gas projects through FEED and EPCM contracting,
•Familiarity with the requirements of a safety case based regulatory regime,
•Familiarity with the formal safety assessment approach used in Australia,
•Experience in the development of performance standards for safety critical elements,
•Exposure to engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning, and
•General familiarity with current Oil and Gas technologies including sub sea production systems, offshore processing facilities, pipelines and onshore gas processing facilities
