Their operations cover the entire energy chain, including oil exploration and production to trading, shipping and refining and marketing of petroleum products, as well as chemicals. The Role:

The increasing complexity of Safety Engineering and SHE requirements and the associated regulatory framework requires a highly organised and technically competent Safety Engineering professional to support project activities. The main challenge to the project teams is to ensure that project activities are carried out according to relevant legislation, Company standards and procedures and that the risk of major accidents is either tolerable or ALARP. The identification and adoption of best practices in safety engineering and project execution is an important objective of the role, as is the development of strong and positive relationships with Project Manager, team members and contractor representatives and the Health & Safety Executive.


•Co-ordinate and control a package of Safety Engineering and SHE activities within the Project and ensure that they are carried out in
accordance with Company standards, procedures and statutory requirements.
•Maintain highly effective communication links with Project Team members, other Company contacts, key contractor representatives and
the Health & Safety Executive.
•Assist the Engineering Manager and individual Package Managers in the control of projects from a Safety Engineering and SHE


•Ensure that legislative and Company safety, health and environment rules and standards are met and that the activities comply with the
standards and commitments contained within Company Safety Cases and Management System documentation.
•Ensure that the Statement of Requirements are met and completed with the quality specified and within the timescale.
•Monitor Contractors’ achievements (deliverables) in accordance with contractual requirements and especially in area of basic and detailed
design expertise to ensure all company standards are met.
•Ensure that best practice and technical innovations are shared and implemented through the project.
•Manage the development of skills and knowledge of Engineering personnel to deliver best performance from both an individual and
business perspective.
•Ensure that design meets Company and Group SHE rules (Maestro, Safety Management System.)
•Ensure the project is carried out in line with current regulations (DCR, PFEER, etc.)

Will be based in Aberdeen with missions to contractor offices in Italy and possibility of occasional offshore trips.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Highly experienced in an operational safety role with specific experience of the offshore drilling environment.
•A professional qualification in safety (minimum NEBOSH certificate or equivalent).
•Experience in incident investigation and analysis using a systematic methodology (preferably Apollo Root Cause Analysis).
•Experience of carrying out audits of safety procedures (SIMOPS, permit etc).
•Experience writing procedures and bridging documents.
•Offshore Survival Certificate plus MIST.
•Offshore Medical Certificate.
