The Company:
Our Client is a powerful new oil & gas production and development company, has been formed from the demerged North Sea interests of joint venture. Our company assets have been contributed by both firms on a debt free basis. We are a focused independent company.

The Role:
The Company is the leading UK independent oil operator in the North Sea with a dynamic management team and exciting growth plans to develop operations further in the UKCS. We are currently looking for an Onshore Safety Engineer to expand the Project Operations team supporting the Alma-Galia Field, which will be produced through the Company's Producer FPSO. Initially the work will be in the Pre-Operations project phase and then after First Oil (currently planned for Q3 2013) it will become an Operations Support role. The engineer will be responsible for all Safety and Environmental issues for the multi-disciplinary project team and will report to the Operations Manager.

Principal accountabilities:
• Co-ordination of all work interfaces with the HSE, including the updating and getting approval of the Asset Safety Case.
• Co-ordination of all work interfaces with DECC, including submission of the required permits and consents.
• Setting up and then running all the HSEQ processes and procedures for the asset, including HSEQ reporting, Accident/Incident Investigation and safety action tracking.
• Attending HAZIDS, HAZOPS and Design Reviews as required in order to ensure that the design meets all the required Safety and Environmental requirements.
• Linking with and aligning with company HSEQ department.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Self motivated team player with ability and desire to take responsibility and drive work loads to effective resolution.
• Ability to contribute to the team but equally work on own initiative.
• Strong analytical capability to visualise and capture root cause.
• Identifies problems and stakeholders and drives resolution in a timely fashion.
• Able to proactively identify areas for improvement and change.
• Significant experience and excellent understanding of Safety and Environmental Issues.
• Experience of working directly with the HSE and DECC.
• Experience of leading accident/incident investigations.
• Experience of training personnel to complete investigations.
• Experience of working with an FPSO.
• Experience of working within a small team.
• Candidates should be qualified to Degree Level in Engineering or related science/technology fields.
• NEBOSH Certificate.
• Must be able to demonstrate continuing personal and professional development.
