The Company:
A luxury Automotive OEM based in the West Midlands. After continued growth & success there are a number of new exciting engineering projects underway and we currently have requirements for experiences engineering professionals.

The Role:
To provide CAE support to the Vehicle Safety team in the form of occupant simulation for impacts scenarios (including front, side, Ped, IHI.)
To conduct external testing at organisations including Volvo, MIRA, and Millbrook
Lead performance delivery of vehicle safety attribute to agreed targets
Provide analysis capability and design support to the Body Engineering team.
This will entail the use of CAE tools and other calculation methods to assist in the design process, designing components and systems to meet performance, weight and cost targets.
Drive engineering issues resolution to meet program targets and constraints
Conduct Frontal occupant, Side occupant, Pedestrian and Interior head impact analysis to assess, predict and develop occupant interaction during crash events
Support Safety attribute sub-system and full vehicle physical test analysis support
Liaise with external partners on CAE model input requirements for items such as airbags, trim, steering column etc.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Engineering degree (or equivalent) minimum 2.1
Extensive experience using LS-Dyna and Nastran/LS-Dyna Implicit
Proven experience in the automotive industry with a broad knowledge of automotive engineering design and manufacturing, particularly relating to occupant modelling and interior trim
Working knowledge of world safety standards and test procedures
Knowledge of materials used in the high-performance automotive or aerospace sectors, e.g. aluminium alloys and carbon composites
The ability to construct a full vehicle crash model from scratch
Hands-on experience of FE pre- and post-processing software (e.g. Hyperworks, Oasys suite, Ansa, Medina Mesher, etc.)
Intuitive knowledge of fundamental mechanical engineering theory
Excellent IT skills and working knowledge of MS word/Excel etc
Self-starting and self-motivated
Excellent organisational skills
Able to learn quickly and integrate into a successful and dynamic team
Excellent problem solving abilities
