The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, seeks expertise for offshore mega-projects in Canada.

First consideration will be given to residents of Newfoundland & Labrador.

The Role:
Role Scope:

Provide Safety Security, Health and Environment quality assurance and compliance expertise and support as an integral part of the organization, which ensures all customer needs across functions and teams are met.The SSHE Advisor must have a thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to the work environment. He or she must provide safety health, environment, and security advice to the leadership and the workforce on areas such as emergency response, incident investigation, and safe systems of work and management of risk. The SSHE Lead will also facilitate visits from regulatory authorities and participate in audit procedures and act as onsite SSHE representative.

Reporting Relationship:

The SSHE Advisor reports directly to the Safety Supervisor. He or she is responsible for providing safety, health, environment, and security expertise to onshore or offshore management and the general workforce.

Key Tasks, Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

•In consultation with the Emergency Response Advisor, develop and coordinate emergency response drills and exercises.
•Provide SSHE support to the Leadership Team as required.
•Provide advice and support on hazard identification and precautions for work activities, regulatory requirements, interpretation of policy and procedures, and operational plan.
•Perform proactive and reactive performance monitoring. Monitoring to include assessment of the site’s SSHE processes such as Emergency Response, Incident Investigation, Safe Systems of Work, Management of Risk and critical safety equipment status.
•Support quality assurance and control for the site’s SSHE activities.
•Provide support to on-going operations, participation in audits, facilitate regulatory visits, and follow-up /tracking of issues until resolved.
•Maintain awareness of SSHE processes and procedures. Pro-actively audit and inspect activities for continuous improvement in SSHE.
•Provide leadership and support for the incident investigation procedures and reporting process.
•In co-operation with site leadership and the SSHE department, review and update SSHE procedures.
•Coordinate with MODU operator on SSHE awareness programs (e.g. Near Miss reporting, Last Minute Risk Assessments, JSA, etc).
•Support and promote compliance with the project Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS).
•Support the OIMS stewardship process to ensure consistent application.
•Support the control of work system.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•5-10 years related industrial experience in SSHE – preferably in the oil and gas industry. Offshore related experience is a definite asset.
•Engineering or Science related degree or recognized technical qualification, or demonstrated work related experience within the oil & gas industry.
•Planning and cost management awareness is an asset.
•A goal setting approach to safety and environmental risk identification and management.
•Ability to recognize and resolve conflict.
•Ability to understand and interact with diverse groups and operations
•Understanding of the business and safety KPIs.
•Effective communication skills, oral and written, with the ability to communicate through electronic medium.
•Maintain current BST and be able to travel and work offshore
