The Company:
Our client is a leader within the Automation and Control Systems field with operations in 100 countries worldwide. They specialise in providing integrated solutions the transmission and distribution industry

The Role:
As a Secondary Applications Engineer you will be responsible for conceptual design through to functional design for the Protection and Control system and associated auxiliary systems.

Key duties and responsibilties include:
• Providing technical support in the development of schemes and providing scope clarification against the customer specifications
• Produce engineering time estimates and forecasts.
• Develop technical specifications for Plant items such as CT’s, VT’s, Circuit Breakers, auxiliary supply boards and Protection & Control Equipment
• Prepare schematic Diagrams such as: AC connection diagrams and block tripping diagrams, Distance and unit protection schemes, Biased differential transformer protection & Overcurrent and earth fault protection, Control schemes such as Synchronizing, delayed auto reclose, Busbar protection and Circuit breaker fail schemes, Auxiliary systems and Local Control cubicles.
• Provide input into design review meetings and design risk registers
• Carrry out calculations for Cable, Battery and LVAC loading requirements.
• Provide support during the production of Wiring Diagrams, Cable Schedules, core sheets and other general interfacing diagrams.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Electricity supply industry experience
• Knowledge of Transmission or Distribution practices (400kV to 11 kV)
• HNC/HND in electrical engineering or equivalent
• Good team work, Analytical and communication skills
• Capable of working to tight time scales

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• TP141 Authorisation
• Degree qualification in Electrical Power Engineering
