The Company:
Our client is a technology leader and the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, and industrial gas turbines.

The Role:
This is the first line supervisor position to supervise various disciplines of the manufacturing process including assembly, fabrications, paint, etc. and supervise the operations of one to five Team Leads assigned manufacturing areas in close cooperation with more senior members of management.
1. Determines processing needs to assure fixtures, tooling and methods are provided to meet schedules and production requirements.
2. Determines priorities and schedules the sequence of jobs.
3. Determines overtime need, determines priorities when resources are insufficient, and decides when disciplinary action is necessary.
4. Produces product to meet quality standards while maintaining cost.
5. Ensures necessary parts and materials are ordered and distributed in a timely and efficient manner.
6. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency. Works to improve processes, timeliness and reduce costs by eliminating non-value added activities.
7. Ensures preventive maintenance is performed according to schedule.
8. Implement various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certification, etc.
9. Monitor and improve safety on the shop floor; eliminate any unsafe operations and ensure a safe and clean production environment.
10. Evaluate, assess, and identify training needs of the workforce.
11. Ensures training and effective utilization of work force. Company Process Systam responsibilities include:
a. Owns the value stream map for their respective section. Partners with support groups in the implementation of changes needed to achieve future state.
b. Adjusts section staffing to meet flow and customer requirements.
c. Practices and teaches Company Process Systam Guiding Principles.
d. Initiates and conducts process improvement dialogs with Team Leads and Team Members.
e. Drives Root Cause identification. Drives Continuous Improvement process.
f. Reports section status. Monitors and audits PQVC metrics.
g. Assists with creating, training and implementing standard work
12. This classification will typically be used on night shifts where incumbents do not have complete responsibility for line scheduling, material ordering, maintenance coordination, etc.
13. This job may also be used to train new Section Managers.
14. Adheres to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, affirmative action, etc. in performing assigned duties

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
1.Requires a thorough knowledge of Lean Manufacturing processes and tools, machine shop operations, equipment and processes plus familiarity with materials and quality objectives.
2. A college degree or its equivalent is required for this position.
3.Must complete the Company Process Systam Section Manager functional Curriculum.
4.Prior experience in planning and/or shop experience is desirable.
5.Recommend 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
6.Good human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department.
