The Company:
Our client is a large Owner/Operator with their Canadian operations based out of Calgary, AB. They are one Canada’s largest integrated oil companies focusing on the exploration and production of oil, natural gas and sulphur. Their projects are located throughout Canada focusing on the Oil Sands, as well as Natural Gas extraction throughout Alberta and BC.

The Role:
The Security Manager will have responsibility:

•Provide security expertise to P&T Onshore Projects from design of security strategy through to execution activities to ensure security risks and loss control initiatives are identified, assessed and managed effectively.
•Develop, deploy and lead a new security department that will improve the use of security solutions to enhance performance and reduce operating costs.
•Co-ordinate and integrate security systems (access control, CCTV, asset tracking, intrusion detection, etc.)
•Deployment of Standards & Specifications for technical solutions, and translation of international and “Group Security Standards” into construction policies, procedures and standards for implementation.
•Represent the team on all security matters including security management programs, field implementation of security protection programs, field (roving patrols) inspections, reporting, etc. Provide direction, leadership and coordination for development and implementation of contractor security plans.
•Focal security project point for regulatory liaison with external stakeholders requiring access to the project and key role in maintaining positive reputation management interfaces during execution.
•Provide input to annual HSSE Plan improvement areas and Management Review process.
•Responsible for review of Security Plan documentation for in line with local and Shell requirements.
•Monitor compliance with Legal and internal security requirements through participation in regular audits and site visits. Participate in project management regular formal HSSE inspections, meetings and audits and assist with follow up / closure of open items.
•Develop standard audits and requirements specifically related to security performance and in line with project guidelines.
•Investigation of security breaches and incidents, analysing trends to determine areas for improvement and sharing of best practices within the Shell community.
•Provide security input to Emergency Response requirements for P&T activities.
•Establish effective working relationship with Contractor, Asset and project security specialists to align on key security improvement areas in P&T.
•Establish initial security requirements for the construction team on behalf of Project management team as construction forces are mobilized.
•Manage all security activities, including access control, demonstrably reflecting HSSE strategy, policy and guidelines for the project.
