The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, seeks expertise for offshore mega-projects in Canada.

This opportunity is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only. First consideration will be given to residents of Newfoundland & Labrador.

The Role:
Your primary responsibility as the Senior Accountant will be to provide joint interest, royalty and accounting support for Eastern Canada Assets.

As the Senior Accountant you will:
• Provide royalty cost reporting and analysis support related to current and historical joint account and owners filings.
• Provide analysis of agreement clauses
• Provide monthly and quarterly monitoring and stewardship of status of audits and outstanding issues.
• Assessment of current accounting procedures/processes for improvement, assessment of automation opportunities, and conduct activity analysis
• Lead / facilitate continuous improvement (CI) projects for Controllers group
• Provides support to the JI Accounting Supervisor and legal counsel with regard to the royalty redeterminations, audits, and appropriate responses to the regulatory bodies.
• Researches and provides analytical interpretations with regard to specific royalty agreement sections based on the application of relevant Canadian GAAP, IFRS, PASC guidance.
• Coordinate/support Royalty Audits

Deliverables:
• Monitoring, analysis and resolution of outstanding audit issues
• Review and restatement of monthly and annual reports
• Compliance review of commercial agreements
• Examination of billing processes
• Monitoring progress of CI projects for Controllers group

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• 10 years accounting experience
• Strong audit and controls experience
• University degree with a major in accounting
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong computer/system skills
• Well organized, ability to multitask and meet deadlines
• Good communication skills

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Experience in SAP an asset
Professional accounting designation preferred
