Position Description:
Saudi Aramco is seeking a Senior Alternative Energy and Grid Integration Consultant to work within the Consulting Services Department (CSD). The CSD provides Saudi Aramco with effective specialized engineering consultations and introduces viable technologies and maintains quality standards. The DC Systems Unit of CSD is responsible for providing effective specialized engineering consultation, introducing viable technologies and maintaining quality standards in the area of DC systems.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Act as the company’s foremost consultant in the company’s dealing with other Saudi Aramco departments, Saudi Arabian government agencies, U.S. companies and universities on alternative energy and grid integration.
- Provide capital and operations program leadership by conceiving, designing and carrying out major studies in alternative energy and grid integration to resolve complex technical problems, increase revenue, optimize processes, protect the environment, or improve safety.
- Develop and maintain Saudi Aramco’s engineering standards and design best practices to enhance company profitability, safety and productivity.
- Evaluate and introduce best practice and emerging technologies from all over the world to help the company achieve best in class positions in the oil business.
- Evaluate major long-term trends in the area of alternative energy and grid integration and serve as a major conduit of technology transfer.
- Develop potentially patentable new equipment and processes.
- Develop ideas for major technical studies or projects to be carried out by less senior specialists.
- Contribute to taskforce investigations to investigate major incidents or solve specific problems.
- Provide engineering leadership and counsels other team members.
- Act as a professional mentor to less senior specialists and transfer implicit knowledge to specialists and other engineers.
- Carry out economic studies and cost analyses of particular importance in field.
- Conduct field inspections and make recommendations for changes in facilities or operations.
- Promote a learning environment and implement self-development to maintain and improve expert status in highly specialized technical and general engineering fields.
- Active in developing/educating young Saudi Arab engineers and promoting engineering.
- Deliver technical presentations and write papers for peer-reviewed journals on engineering studies and projects he has overseen.
- Actively participate in work of technical societies, and participate on specialized committees within appropriate groups.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- A Bachelor or Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Engineering or other related degree from an accredited university. A Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) license or registration would be desirable but is not essential.
- A minimum of 20 years of professional experience, including at least 10 years as a specialist with full responsibility for major technical work in the field of alternative energy and grid integration.
- Recognized both within and outside of the company as a leading expert in the field of alternative energy and grid integration.
- Active in IEEE or IEC, or other technical committees and held distinguished research in the area of power systems and renewable energy applications.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Experience must include:
- Developed and reviewed major engineering design packages related to Photovoltaic (PV), Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) or wind energy projects and installations, and made recommendations for improvements and upgrades.
- Developed specialized studies related to different renewable energy methodologies and identified most efficient for the different applications.
- Conducted power system availability and reliability studies.
- Design and construction of major renewable energy projects, especially in the solar and wind area.
- Provided consulting to customers, participating in investigation teams, and assist manufacturers in developing optimum renewable solutions.
- Worked in multidisciplinary groups and able to pursue work independently.
- Mentored junior engineers and shared knowledge through the teaching of short courses.
