Generator Control & Power Distribution Systems EPC seeking a qualified Senior Application Engineer (Electrical Engineer) with switchgear products design and electrical background
The Role:
Responsible for the customized and innovative designs of electrical plans of products to meet client needs. The overall objective of this position is implementing the strategic direction for all design components with a focus on achieving leading cycle time, delivering superior quality, and reducing per-unit costs. Consistent and accurate representation of the brand, mission, vision, values, and organizational strategy are essential to achieving the goals of the organization.
Essential Accountabilities
* Increase project efficiency by effectively assisting Electrical Engineers and Designers in developing and adhering to design techniques and processes
* Provide technical guidance as the lead subject matter expert for Electrical Engineering consultative services regarding areas of material selection and design concepts which maintain integrity of all customized products, comply with applicable industry standards and meet client specifications.
* Support best in class manufacturing with a focus on cycle time, quality, and value by efficiently maintaining internal department processes, providing professional expertise to assist in the growth and development of team members, and distributing departmental capabilities to maximize human capital resources.
* Strengthen reputation and sustainability through decreased operational costs and increased quality by establishing and improving the Electrical Engineering processes to reduce cost and provide new and innovative products.
* Increase efficiency and quality by proactively identifying and implementing advanced tools within the engineering and manufacturing departments.
* Coordinate with the Estimating Department on a technical basis to ensure accurate quote execution; collaborate with Manufacturing Managers to monitor progress and efficiency on all projects and act as an authority for electrical technical-related matters.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises 3-7 employees. Performs supervisory responsibilities by managing and allocating employee resources in accordance with company policies, applicable laws and company initiatives/goals. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work (including scheduling); appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Acts as a change agent, and develops a high-performing team in the spirit of exceptional service to all internal and external partners.
Qualifications
Education/Certifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, required
* Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or a Master of Business Administration degree, preferred.
Experience
* 10 years of Electrical Engineering design experience in the Marine, Heavy Industrial and/or Oil & Gas industries,required.
* 5 years of electro-mechanical power system design with low voltage, medium voltage, power distribution and controls, and motor control centers (including passive and active arc flash protection), required.
* 2 years leading and managing an engineering team, required; mid- to upper-level management experience, preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Engineering and Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. Ability to evaluate and select components to meet specific customer requirements
* Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
* Design - Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Knowledge of Software and Hardware technology for the custom design activity for PLC's (Allen-Bradley, Quantum, Premium, etc.) hot standby systems as well as relay and relay-based programming for under voltage and protection using Basler, Multilin, Sepam, Zelio, Woodward, etc.. In addition, communication protocol using Modbus, Ethernet or Fiber Optic
* Computers and Electronics - Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including 3D Electrical Design applications such as Autocad Electrical, EPlan, Promis-e. Proficient with Microsoft Office Business Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) as well as MRP/ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, AS400, Ask Manman.
* Codes & Standards -Knowledgeable of UL Standards (UL-1558, UL-891, UL-67, UL-508, UL-845 and UL-DLAH). Familiar with regional utility codes in Chicago, New York, California, etc.
