The Role:
This role is to provide business development and commercial support to the UK Managing Director and Leadership Team
The role is a temporary contractor position with a duration of one year. Extension of the contract or conversion to staff is a possibility depending on future BD and commercial requirements.
The primary responsibility will be to act as the client focal point supporting the ongoing Business Development Workstream.
The secondary responsibility will be to provide BD and commercial assurance on project approvals that fall within the authority limits of the ExCom delegated approver, the UK MD.

Accountable person for the identification and assessment of acquisition, divestiture and third party business opportunities around regional infrastructure hubs, taking a portfolio management approach to developing BD strategies, utilising a regional opportunity screening methodology.

To act as client focal point for business development activity in relation to the ongoing Business Development Workstream, supporting the development of new Asset strategies for infrastructure hubs.

To research industry trends, scope and monitor competitor activities to deliver strategic planning and scenario analyses.

To lead an analysis within the investigation areas around infrastructure hubs to identify key BD opportunities as input to hub strategies.

To assess the appropriate criteria for the type of BD opportunities that would be the best strategic fit for each hub.

In collaboration with the Development Opportunity Workstream and in conjunction with the Asset hub teams, to screen target opportunities based on the agreed criteria.

To consolidate inputs into coherent recommendations for investment/ divestment/ third party capture in support of definitive and sustainable Asset Strategies.

To act as focal point for mandatory commercial and business development assurance activities, supporting the UK MD as delegated authority for ExCom approvals.

Functional Requirements
Financial knowledge and North Sea competitor awareness with strong strategic, analytical thinking and non-authoritative leadership skills given the influencing nature of the role.

Strong sense of discipline, attention to details
Tenacious, with the drive and energy to see projects through in spite of obstacles.
Motivated and enthusiastic with strong interpersonal, communications, influencing and negotiating capabilities and able to present complex business development ideas in succinct terms.

BSc degree qualified in a Petroleum-related discipline, with a minimum of 15 years technical and commercial experience in an operating E&P company.
A demonstrable track record of upstream oil and gas business development deals, with proven success in complex business ventures and relations.
Solid understanding of the technical, business and commercial processes that feed into opportunity development screening.
Strategy development and portfolio analysis skills with strong capability in commercial and economic analysis.
