The Company:
My client is an established supplier of engineering services in the Automotive Sector, they are looking to take on a high calibre Senior Buyer.

The Role:
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager the Senior Business Buyer will be responsible for managing the implementation of effective and efficient Purchasing processes.

This will be achieved by managing and developing the Purchasing team to implement effective and standardised Purchasing processes that manage external supply in order to achieve optimum delivery performance and customer service within cost requirements.

The role will focus on achieving a sustainable reduction in working capital via stock reduction management utilising Purchasing Best practice and proactive vendor management.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To establish and sustain effective supply chain & purchasing processes, practices and procedures for the Automotive sites in order to support the strategy and business plan.
• Provide cost forecasts and develop strategies to continuously reduce total overall costs for designated goods and services.
• Reduce working capital by managing the interfaces between Customer Service/SLA, Supply chain and purchasing management (£50M+).
• To lead and develop the purchasing team by focusing people on their key accountabilities and applying target setting, inputting into performance appraisal and training/development processes in conjunction with the Supply chain Manager.
• Set up key deliverables in the form of KPI’s and report monthly with senior management team.
• Provide the commercial input into reconciling the Automotive “CHEP” container account and ensure holding charge invoices are correct to movements.
• Manage all Automotive Tooling orders ensuring purchase and sales orders are completed in a timely manner.
• Lead the purchasing team to achieve year on year cost downs and improve supplier performance, including SLA’s and MOQ reductions to improve cash flow.
• Influence & Support Sales & project teams on new model introductions, utilizing Team feasibility meetings, QAF submissions, SLA’s and FMEA processes.
• Provide the commercial input into supplier risk evaluation and the development of risk mitigation strategies.
• Actively promote the use of supplier resources through supply agreements and joint project teams to pursue reductions in cost, waste, stocks, etc. and purchasing input to NPD (New Product Development) projects.


KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS AND/OR BUDGET/REVENUE/COST RESPONSIBILITY:
• Reduction of Working Capital (utilizing MOQ reduction) – (sustainable)
• Vendor rating at agreed target levels.
• Achieve yearly cost savings

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Graduate calibre.
• At least 5 years relevant experience within a Purchasing environment.
• Sound working knowledge of best practice in Purchasing & supply chain.
• Proven capability in implementing modern Purchasing processes in a multi-site environment.
• Working knowledge of IT systems, (Baan preferred) excellent MS office skills.
• Proven line management capabilities.
• Preferred member of relevant professional body (i.e. CIPS, MILT, etc.)
