The Role:
The role of the Senior Purchasing Specialist is to procure a variety of commodities in compliance with company processes and procedures. This position will be based in Westhill, Aberdeen reporting to the UK Purchasing Manager

•Broad knowledge of procurement functions, forms of contract and procedures.
•Contact a range of suppliers and sub-contractors to obtain quotations, agree delivery times and place commitment based on price, quality and according to customer demand, company policy and budget.
•Ensuring that goods or services are delivered to the right place at the right time.
•Sourcing alternative products and reviewing existing ones to ensure prices remain competitive with no compromise of quality.
•Meet suppliers and negotiating the most favourable terms of contract.
•Issuing Invitations to Tenders for commodities, evaluating tender submissions, negotiating favourable terms, raising Recommendations for Awards and instigating framework agreements.
•Assessing the reliability of sub-contractors and suppliers.
•Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and sourcing new suppliers for future requirements.
•Managing the system generated GR/IR and Blocked Invoice reports ensuring that they are kept up to date.
•Ability to cope with the pressure of meeting demanding targets and working to tight deadlines.
•Liase with other departments within the organisation

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualifications and Education
General Education:
To HNC level or equivalent is essential
Specified Qualifications for position:
N/A
Continuing Professional Development:
Full membership of CIPS is desirable

Skills
Technical (including IT):
Competent user of SAP is desirable
Interpersonal:
Well developed negotiation skills is essential
Self Management:
Ability to work on own initiative and self manage own workload is essential

Experience:
Relevant previous experience in a Purchasing environment at an appropriate level is essential
Previous experience in the Oil and Gas Industry is desirable
Managerial Experience:
Ability to lead or direct others is desirable
Knowledge:
Fully versed in all Purchasing processes and procedures is essential
