The Company:
Our Client’s engineering division, has been a leader in the design of drilling facilities for offshore platforms worldwide for over 30 years. The company’s 700-strong workforce provides a range of engineering services from pre-project and Front End Engineering Design (FEED) through detail design, construction support, hook-up and commissioning.

The Role:
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager the Senior Buyer is responsible for the day-to-day procurement of the UK Purchasing function and for the coordination of other Purchasing activities globally as required. The Senior Buyer will also act as deputy to the Supply Chain Manager as required

Key Tasks

a) Provide purchasing support to the engineering project teams for the UK and other locations as required
b) Deputise for Supply Chain manager as required
c) Process base requests from initial request through to order placement and close out
d) Active role in preparation and execution of sealed bid packages
e) Attendance and, if required, management of kick off meetings etc. for packages
f) Preparation of RFQ’s with relevant drawings, SDRL’s, data sheets etc. as required
g) Approve purchase orders within limits of approved budgets and delegated financial authority.
h) Ensure that purchasing activities are carried out in accordance with the Management System Procedures.
i) Upkeep of Procurement Status Report (PSR) to assure alignment with project cost and scheduling requirements
j) Assist when required in review of the above procedures to ensure their effectiveness and where required, propose amendments and ensure their implementation.
k) Assist in establishment and management of vendor agreements for materials, equipment and services that RDS requires.
l) Maximise savings and cost avoidance through leveraging, negotiation, and standardisation of equipment as appropriate.
m) Manage continuous improvement of suppliers through regular Supplier Performance Feedback Reports (FPAL)
n) Ensure that materials purchased are as specified, safe, fit for purpose, correctly documented and the most economic to fulfil RDS’ business objectives.
o) Ensure all requests for materials, equipment and services are processed in a prompt and efficient manner in order to allow continuity of company business requirements.
p) Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner and that all safety related issues are recorded, reported and dealt with in accordance with RDS procedures.
q) If required assist in expediting to ensure materials are delivered to meet project schedules and take corrective action as required.
r) Liaise with the QA/QC Manager and engineering disciplines to ensure any identified inspection is carried out in a timely manner.

• Responsible for assisting in delivery of annual financial targets
• Operate within prescribed project budgets for procurement of godds/services

Business Development
• Contribute to delivery of Annual Performance Contract

Departmental Development
• Contribute to delivery of Supply Chain Annual Plan

Systems and Processes
• Support the Process Owner for GSM processes, both SAP and non-SAP.

• Supervise and provide necessary support to the company functions and internal customers
• Manage on a daily basis promoting teamwork, staff motivation and the effective utilisation of all human resources under his/her direct authority.
• Carry out Appraisals under his/her authority, when applicable

• Ensure compliance to all relevant Company management systems and where applicable client procedures.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
a) Ability to work on own initiative
b) Effective communication skills
c) Previous experience in engineering procurement environment
d) Knowledge or previous experience with drilling equipment desired
e) Previous experience with SAP system desirable
