Our client offer design, manufacture, assembly & testing of complex, high-integrity mechanical and electromechanical plant equipment as well as waste management and decommissioning front-end engineering and methodologies to the nuclear industry
The Senior Buyer will be responsible for procurement support to assigned Project Manager.
The scope of this responsibility includes a diverse range of procurement activities to include planning and executing contracts and purchase transactions, analysing supplier performance and coordinating material control and expediting functions.
This position also requires balanced solutions to meet Project performance requirements while controlling costs and schedule of all project related Purchase Orders and Contracts.
The Senior Buyer will be working with established company policies and procedures; working in multifunctional teams to conduct demand planning, to identify operational requirements, and to develop procurement strategies; coordinating work activities with other groups within the Project and manage and exceed internal/external stakeholder expectations
Travel to Supplier premises may be required to support the above activities
Coordinate purchasing requirements, specifications, and work statements with project personnel to ensure precise understanding of need will also be involved in the Senior Buyer role.
Conduct market research to ascertain market support capability and price trends
Engage reliable contractors/suppliers, evaluate proposals, negotiate favourable terms and conditions, and award contracts/purchase orders
The Senior Buyer will manage spend and strategy whilst being able to deliver commercial targets
Ensure suppliers are ethically and environmentally coherent with company protocol
Support strategic purchasing plans, ensuring supplier expectations are clearly defined and suppliers are committed to achieving goals and objectives in the areas of Quality, Cost Competitiveness (total delivered cost) and Delivery
Develop strategies that strengthen the quality of supplier relationships by identifying opportunities to continuously improve the effectiveness of communications and supplier relationship management activities.
The Senior Buyer will Promote and encourage cross functional participation from Quality, SCM, Purchasing, R&D, and Manufacturing in order to maximise total cost reduction & technical optimisation.
Establish and maintain close working relationships with customers within the company and contractors/suppliers providing product and services to the company
Work with wider Procurement Team to develop and execute Continuous Improvement Activities (CSIP)
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Conversant with any International Standards that are relevant & Procurement Operating Procedures
The Senior Buyer will be conversant with any Statutory Terms & Conditions of Contract
