Our Client is a prestigious manufacturer of sports and racing cars. The company designs and builds race and production automobiles of light weight and fine handling characteristics.
•To ensure components/services are sourced in the most optimum manner for the specific project/department.
•To maintain a supplier base acceptable for our industry.
•To establish project/department procurement as designated.
•To support department colleagues as and when necessary.
•To source and procure components/services
•To assess potential suppliers both technically and commercially
•To provide support to assess and report on new technology/services and applications
•To assist with proposal costings, as required
•To provide a role model for Buyers and Associate Buyers
•To ensure all activities undertaken are in line with current policies and procedures.
•To assist in day to day running of the Purchasing Department and all activities associated with it
•To liaise with Clients and their suppliers to ensure adequate interface
•To liaise directly with the Clients as and when necessary, on all commercial aspects relevant to the project
•To undertake costdown activities as directed by the Team Leader/ Commodity Supervisor/ Principal Buyer
•To assess existing suppliers with the main to reduce supplier base
•To liaise with internal customer departments to ensure adequate interface.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Certificate of Higher Education in Engineering/Business Studies or equivalent. Higher National Diploma and/or CIPS desirable.
- Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment (ideally automotive)
- PC literate with current software. Basic understanding of engineering/manufacturing drawings.
- Previous experience in general engineering/aerospace/automotive
- Communicative, resourceful, flexible and ambitious
- European language would be an advantage.
