The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
The role of the programme buyer is to manage sourcing from the concept (Pre ) of a new model or model year vehicle programme, through to supporting the availability of quality parts at appropriate capacity for all builds up to and beyond mass production. Recognising commercial risks and opportunities, and driving target adherence within Redbook. The Programme buyer acts as primary interface between Production Purchasing and the wider programme team.

Pre- Create a programme Early Sourcing Work Plan (ESWP) based off the PPFeas document, detailing generic commodity categorisation (Supplier on Board (SoB timing), buyer, programme leader (PL), module leader (ML) and engineers. Identify High Impact commodities from the PPFeas document and engage the relevant Purchasing CoC and Advanced Product Creation (APC) areas to determine supplier involvement needs & timing. Cascade programme 32 system cost targets to production purchasing to facilitate Purchase, Finance and Engineering alignment. to Communicate sourcing requirements to the CoC purchasing teams via the ESWP in SharePoint. Manage CoC based SPAT process ensuring SharePoint is up to date with latest timing, comments and actions. Ensure submitted SAD's are filled in correctly and meet all programme timing requirements (virtual series phase etc.) Report out sourcing status and escalation issues to the wider program team in the Programme SPAT. Collate all relevant documentation (SAD, SIR, ESA, CVL, SCD, SCPA, CPA) for signature in the programme SPAT by Finance, PL's and the Purchase Programme Manager. Participate and manage relevant purchase actions from the CPAT and TPAT meetings. Support and facilitate X1 prototype procurement activities. Manage and facilitate the long lead ordering and release process (T release) Post. Manage and facilitate the purchasing elements of the T & P release process. Support and facilitate the VP prototype procurement process. Support the Control Management Meeting (CMM) and CoC Purchasing to ensure supplier support plans are valid and that purchase orders are placed in a timely manner. Monitor and report programme PSW status: Create and distribute/report out standard metrics in the LMM/LCM/NMLR as appropriate Support and facilitate Open To Go (OTG) and New Tool End item (NTEi) meetings Ensure data held within PTiS is correct and up to date.

Develop, manage and deliver the programme specific Early Sourcing Work Plan in line with programme requirements. Support delivery of Purchasing programme deliverables. With management support, maintain training history, assessment, and plan. Monitor sourcing for achievement of JLRQ objective. Support delivery of programme financial objectives at SWRM = Target. Purchasing risk/opportunities to be fully recognised within SWRM at . Support PSW glide path for . Maintain data and communicate status and projection with recovery plan where required to Job 1. All capacity shortages have a resolution plan in place within 30 days (reduction from 2010/11 objective). Revised process to improve capacity planning championed. Purchasing risk/opportunities to be booked to status by . Deliver 94% PSW on current car bought out content (cross car average on 12 month rolling basis measured every qtr by car line in VQR

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Experience managing multiple projects across a wide range of stakeholders with the ability to work to strict deadlines and to drive others to meet commitments and prioritise effectively. Understanding of programme delivery processes & procedures. Highly motivated, confident and assertive with the ability to build strong working relationships and influence a wide range of stakeholders at all levels in the business. Business acumen, personal initiative and a passion to succeed, together with the influencing skills to manage the programme sourcing activity with a good level of independence. Effective cross-functional team working experience. Professionally qualified, i.e. educated to Degree or HND level with a proven track record in a purchasing or programme environment, prior engine experience is preferable. Adaptable to changing circumstances, with experience managing conflicting priorities; finds problem solving a rewarding experience; capable of working under pressure with minimal sup

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Automotive or related industry and programme / project management experience (production parts not indirect) Report progress against Purchasing i3 deliverables as appropriate. Support current car Vehicle Quality Review's (VQR) Co-ordinate internal programme and external supplier events. Manage appropriate escalation of sourcing, timing and cost issues. Manage programme communication to the wider Purchasing team. Purchasing lead contact for all other programme functions (Programme, STA, PD, MP&L, Finance). Action ageing order issues liaising with the off site central opp's function. Support and develop process improvements as appropriate.
